  • Patent number: 6653769
Abstract: Spacers used in a picture display device are formed of a sintered product having a structure in which at least one kind of metal selected from the group consisting of Si, Zn, Al, Sn, Cu and Mg is dispersed in a glass. In the picture display device using spacers, therefore, the spacers are effectively prevented from being electrically charged and, besides, trouble such as distortion in the displayed picture caused by the electric charge in the spacers is effectively prevented, too. In producing the spacers by firing, further, the volume expands due to the oxidation of the metal component, whereby shrinkage due to firing is effectively relaxed, making it possible to produce the spacers maintaining a high dimensional precision. Besides, the spacers are effectively prevented from being deformed by the shrinkage caused by firing.

  • Patent number: 6149482
Abstract: A method for manufacturing plasma display unit substrates having bulkheads by applying a mixture of ceramic powder or glass powder and a binder to a back face plate made of ceramics or glass. Bulkheads are formed on the back face plate by rolling a roll, having a plurality of grooves on its surface, over the mixture-applied surface of the back face plate while applying pressure to the surface with the roll. Alternatively, the grooves on the surface of the roll may be pre-filled with the moisture and rolled over the surface of a back face plate, thereby forming bulkheads.

  • Patent number: 6023130
Abstract: A plasma display substrate comprising a rear plate and a plurality of partitions for forming display cells between every two adjacent partitions on one of the surfaces of the rear plate, wherein the partitions are molded independently of the rear plate with the mixture of ceramic or glass powder and a binder inclusive of organic additives and solvents are formed in a desired shape and a desired disposition on one of the surfaces of the rear plate made of ceramics or glass, and integrally joined to the rear plate. According to the substrate, the display cells have improved dimensional accuracy, particularly, the partitions having highly accurate flat side surfaces with no deformation and having a predetermined height can be formed easily. This disclosure also provides a method of producing the same.
