  • Patent number: 6569546
Abstract: A member having a coating film is formed by thermal spraying a thermal spray material. The thermal spray material includes a double oxide forming a monophasic oxide, and contains (a) at least one trivalent metal element selected from the group consisting of Al, Ti, V, Cr, Co, Rh, and Sc, Y and lanthanoid in rare earth elements, and (b) at least one element selected from the group consisting of Sc, Y, and lanthanoid in the rare earth elements different from those in (a).

  • Patent number: 6284320
Abstract: In a method for manufacturing a member for use in a molten metal bath, a sealing solution is applied on a coating formed of oxide system ceramics formed on an outermost surface of a substrate. The sealing solution includes an inorganic colloid compound solution containing an inorganic colloid having a grain diameter in a range of 5-50 nanometers in an amount of 5-50 weight percent, and an inorganic binder. The inorganic binder is mixed at a weight ratio of 0.3-3.0 with respect to a weight of 1.0 of the inorganic colloid. The oxide system ceramic formed on the outermost surface of the substrate is an oxide containing 5% or more of a composite oxide comprising (a) at least one of Al, Ti, V, Cr, Fe, Co, Rh, In and rare earths, which are trivalent metal elements, and (b) at least one rare earth different from that used in (a). The sealing solution on the coating after permeation is then baked.

  • Patent number: 6214483
Abstract: A member for a molten metal bath is provided with a composite sprayed coating having excellent corrosion resistance and peeling resistance against a molten metal. A cermet sprayed coating lower layer including 5-60% by weight of metal boride and 5-30% by weight of at least one member selected from the group consisting of Co, Cr, Mo, and W with the balance including metal carbide and unavoidable impurities is formed on a surface of a member for the molten metal bath such as a roll in a bath, and an oxide ceramic sprayed coating surface layer including combined various oxides is formed on the cermet coating. The obtained composite coating is subjected to sealing treatment by means of an inorganic sealing agent.

  • Patent number: 5952054
Abstract: A spray deposit is formed by applying a spray deposit on a target object, and applying a sealer onto the spray deposit on the target object immediately after the spray deposit is applied on the target object. Thus, a thin layer of sealer components contained in the sealer is formed immediately on the spray deposit while a liquid component of the sealer volatilizes.

  • Patent number: 5395661
Abstract: A manufacturing method for immersion members for molten metal baths, wherein a thermal sprayed coating including 1-50 wt % of tungsten boride, 3-25 wt % of one or more of Ni, Co, Cr, and Mo as a metal phase, and a remainder including tungsten carbide, is formed on the surface of a immersion member for use in molten metal baths, and subsequently, impregnation processing is conducted with respect to the thermal sprayed coating in a processing fluid having as a main component thereof chromic acid (H.sub.2 CrO.sub.4 and H.sub.2 Cr.sub.2 O.sub.7), and subsequently, baking processing is conducted. In accordance with this manufacturing method, a surface layer possessing fine microstructure and high bond strength not conventionally available is provided, and it is possible to manufacture a superior immersion member for use in molten metal baths which has superior resistance to corrosion, resistance to corrosive peeling, and resistance to abrasion, and to which metals do not easily adhere.
