  • Patent number: 8103778
Abstract: The present invention provides a network operations management method and apparatus which realizes efficient power-saving by enabling virtual servers to move between physical servers beyond network segments. A reallocation design unit 13 designs reallocation of virtual servers to physical servers so that necessary resource amounts are assigned to all virtual servers. When virtual servers VS need to move between physical servers PS beyond network segments NS for the designed reallocation, a grouping unit 14 changes a network segment NS to which physical servers PS are connected by changing the configuration of a router and switches. A reallocation unit 15 realizes efficient power-saving by reallocating the virtual servers to the physical servers based on the design made by the reallocation design unit 13.

  • Patent number: 7870237
Abstract: The present invention provides a network configuration restoration method and system which can perform restoration by copying past configuration files in a short time. An updating judging unit 304 judges updating of each network device by comparing an acquired configuration file and a registered configuration file linked to a first identifier representing a copy timing. A new save unit 312 acquires an updated configuration file from a network device, and links the updated configuration file to a first identifier and a second identifier which sets the current timing as a new save timing and saves it in a configuration file database 301. A save unit 311 copies a registered configuration file of a network device whose configuration file has not been updated and links it to a first identifier representing the copy timing and a second identifier linked to this configuration file and saves it.

  • Patent number: 7336614
Abstract: A method for controlling routes in a network which is temporarily formed among a plurality of nodes. The method includes the steps of broadcasting a discovery demand of a destination node; receiving a first reply from the destination node with respect to the discovery demand; referring a joint count contained in the first reply and registering the joint count in a node which received the reply; adding 1 to the joint count if there is a plurality of nodes forming a plurality of links to which the reply is transferred, and transmitting the reply to each of the links, and selecting one of the links having a smaller registered joint count as a route if there is a plurality of links through which the data is transmitted to the destination node.

  • Patent number: 7069144
Abstract: The present invention is directed to improve convenience to the user. A path extending from the present location S of a mobile terminal to a destination D via a base station is calculated (S2), distances between base stations on the calculated path and the present location are calculated, and the closest base station is determined as a contents delivery base station (S7). Grace time for the mobile terminal to pass through the contents delivery base station is calculated. Then, scheduled time to deliver the contents to the mobile terminal is calculated (S8). While monitoring a travel state of the mobile terminal (S10 to S12), the contents are delivered to the mobile terminal near the contents delivery base station (S14).

  • Patent number: 6791998
Abstract: A polling period controlling apparatus capable of polling with a period traceable temporal variations of management information values of a managed unit is provided with a polling period calculator 5 which decomposes a sequence of management information values, stored in the sequence memory 4, into the sum of sinusoids with different frequencies to find the maximum frequency and determines the polling period from an inverse of two times the largest frequency. A central controller 2 then compares between the required bandwidth specified by the polling period and a network management bandwidth and, when the former is smaller than the latter, obtains the management information value from the managed unit 11 using the polling period. When the former is greater, the central controller 2 obtains the management information value using the polling period determined from the network management bandwidth.

  • Patent number: 6259673
Abstract: If an error range is specified with regard to the cost beforehand, a route satisfying all of a plurality of QoS conditions at a low cost and having a cost in the error range is selected as an optimum route. Such a route selection method is provided. At step S1, a plurality of QoS conditions to be satisfied are set. At step S2, an approximation error &egr; is input. At step S3, a range of a cost for searching for an optimum route is tentatively set. At step S4, an optimum solution cost approximation procedure is executed. At step S5, it is determined whether the cost searching range has been sufficiently narrowed. If the narrowed cost searching range is still too wide, then the processing returns to the step S4 and the optimum solution cost approximation procedure is repeated. If the cost searching range has already been narrowed, an optimum solution deriving procedure is executed at step S6.

  • Patent number: 6081838
Abstract: The managed object instance is used as access control unit, then access denial and permission are quickly decided. After a pre-process to the naming tree which is an object of access control, MOI included within every scope which can be designated by the management operation is obtained. At every issue of the management operation, access denial and permission are decided by using the data obtained in the pre-process. When the configuration of the naming tree is changed, the data are easily and rapidly revised, then the access control is adaptive to the dynamic change of the naming tree.
