  • Patent number: 4393417
Abstract: A tracking system including positionable elements, rotary video heads mounted on the positionable elements, a control head, a frequency generator attached to a capstan motor, and a displacing pattern generator. The displacing pattern generator includes counters which count the pulses from the frequency generator. The pattern generator is reset by control signals reproduced by the control head, a still pattern generator, and an adding means which adds the output signal from the counters and the output signal from the still pattern generator. The output signal of the displacing pattern generator is amplified and applied to the positionable element. As result, the video head mounted on the positionable element can properly trace on a recorded video track at a normal tape speed or at a different tape speed.

As result, the video heads mounted on the positionable elements can properly trace on a recorded video track at both a normal tape speed or at another tape speed.

  • Patent number: 4344087
Abstract: A method of processing video signals for eliminating vertical picture fluctuations caused when a video tape recorder reproduces video signals at a tape speed different from that used for recording the video signals. The vertical picture fluctuations are eliminated by substituting distorted vertical synchronous signals for the original vertical synchronous signal, the distorted vertical synchronous signals generated by a processing apparatus having a correction circuit which corrects for the difference in frequency characteristics between the video signal path and the vertical synchronous signal path.

  • Patent number: 4327384
Abstract: A rotary head type magnetic tape recording/reproducing apparatus, by which a tracking condition of the reproducing heads and a recorded track can be automatically adjusted. This apparatus includes an oscillator for imparting small vibrations to the reproducing heads, a synchronous detector, an integration adder circuit including an adder and a delay circuit rotary heads mounted on a positionable element, and from the small vibrations. A tracking error signal which is derived by wobbling circuit is applied to the integration adder circuit, and the positionable element is controlled by the output signal of the integration adder means so as to construct a servo loop. Accordingly, proper tracking can be attained even for large tracking error.

  • Patent number: 4242699
Abstract: A recording and reproducing apparatus for color video signals, in which before the color video signal is recorded, the chroma signal of the color video signal is frequency-converted by a carrier from an oscillator whose frequency is f.sub.a =[(455/2)+{(2n+1)/4}]f.sub.H so that the chroma signal is compressed to a very low frequency band with the sidebands of the chroma signal being interleaved with each other. The thus compressed signal is frequency-modulated and recorded, and is then reproduced and demodulated. The demodulated signal is balance-modulated and passed through a comb-filter to reproduce the chroma signal. Since the chroma signal is frequency-modulated before the recording, possible fluctuation of the signal level due to the recording and reproducing means does not affect the resulting reproduced chroma signal. Also, since the chroma signal is compressed to a very low frequency band, a time base error (jitters) which might possibly occur in the resulting reproduced chroma signal due e.g.
