    Abstract: A method and an apparatus for scramble type broadcast receiving capable of proper contract management and strict prevention of illegitimate program receptions. The method includes the steps of deciphering the stored cryptogrammed contract information whenever the program information is received: temporarily storing the deciphered contract information: and de-scrambling the scrambled actual program in accordance with the status of the contract indicated by the deciphered contract information. The apparatus for performing the method and the broadcast system incorporating the method and apparatus are also disclosed.
