  • Patent number: 4442829
Abstract: Materials comprising aluminum having a purity of 99.92% by weight or more as a substrate and a porous anodic oxide film of 3.mu. or less in thickness formed on the surface of the substrate and metal particles electrochemically filled in the micropores of the anodic oxide film are used herein to selectively absorb solar energy. This solar energy absorbing characteristic is due to the fact that such materials have a large absorptivity in the visible and near the infrared range and have little emissivity in the infrared range. Such materials are produced by subjecting aluminum having a purity of 99.92% by weight or more to anodic oxidation, and then optionally to anodic electrolysis or alternating current electrolysis in an aqueous solution containing at least one acid selected from the group consisting of phosphoric acid, nitric acid and acetic acid, followed by electrolysis in an aqueous solution containing a metallic salt.

  • Patent number: 4243438
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of producing an aluminum impact extrusion by preparing a slug of an aluminum based alloy made of aluminum and at least one element selected from cobalt and nickel, whereas the amounts of the cobalt and nickel are each present in amounts of 3% by weight or less and wherein the total amount of cobalt and nickel is 0.15% by weight or more; impact extruding the slug by using an impact extrusion press, and then annealing the extruded product. The present invention also involves an aluminum base alloy consisting of the ingredients mentioned above useful for impact extrusion and an aluminum collapsible tube prepared by impact extruding a slug stud of an aluminum base alloy of the type described above.

  • Patent number: 4213558
Abstract: A method and apparatus for continuously producing clad metal plate employing a continuous casting apparatus. Sheet metal cladding is fed onto one or both faces of the hot solidified continuously cast strip being withdrawn from the casting means and the assembly is then passed to a hot roll bonding system for cladding. A method of producing clad aluminum or aluminum alloy according to the above process is further disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4059494
Abstract: An improved process for electrolytically coloring an anodically oxidized aluminum or aluminum base alloy strip or wire which comprises, while continuously travelling the strip or wire through an electrolytic coloring means, subjecting the anodically oxidized strip or wire as a cathode to direct current electrolysis using an electrolytic coloring means comprising at least one hollow body having an opening for continuously supplying a coloring bath onto the surface of the oxidized strip or wire and an electrode acting as an anode therein, and continuously supplying the coloring bath through the opening of the hollow body onto the surface of the oxidized strip or wire.

  • Patent number: 4043880
Abstract: A green-colored anodic oxide film on an aluminum or aluminum base alloy article is obtained by subjecting the article to alternating current anodization in an anodic oxidation bath containing sulfuric acid and then immersing the resulting article in an aqueous solution containing copper ions and an acid, followed by an aftertreatment.

  • Patent number: 4021315
Abstract: In the process of coloring an anodized aluminum or aluminum alloy article by subjecting the anodized article to an electrolytic treatment with a direct current in an aqueous electrolytic coloring bath containing a water-soluble metallic salt, the oxide film on the article can be easily colored in a stable manner and in a uniform color, by subjecting the anodized article previously to an anodic direct current electrolysis in an aqueous solution containing the same metallic ion as in the coloring bath, and then to a cathodic direct current electrolysis for coloring the anodized oxide film on the article.
