  • Patent number: 5883280
Abstract: An organic hydroxyl compound is reacted with polyphosphoric acid under such conditions that the ratio, as defined by formula (1), has a value exceeding 3.2; and phosphorus pentaoxide is added to the reaction product thus obtained in such an amount that the ratio, as defined by formula (1), has a value in the range of from 2.8 to 3.2: ##EQU1## If necessary, the obtained reaction product is deodorized by the removal of the organic hydroxyl compound unreacted therefrom. The process does not give any product of high-viscous gel and therefore enables the industrially easy manufacture of a phosphoric monoester having an extremely high purity, a lowered orthophosphoric acid content, and a good odor.

  • Patent number: 5104981
Abstract: A process is disclosed for the production of an alkyl glycoside excellent in hue, which comprises (1) reacting a sugar with alcohol to obtain an alkyl glycoside reaction product containing an unreacted higher alcohol, (2) reacting the resulting product with a metal/hydrogen complex represented by formula (I)M(BH.sub.4).sub.x (I)whereinM is an alkali metal, Ca, Zn, or (CH.sub.3).sub.4 N; and x is 1 when M is an alkali metal or (CH.sub.3).sub.4 N and x is 2 when M is Ca or Zn;(3) separating the resulting reaction mixture into the alkyl glycoside and the unreacted higher alcohol, and (4) decomposing the remaining metal/hydrogen complex with an acid.

  • Patent number: 5079350
Abstract: A process for the production of an alkyl glycoside or an aqueous solution thereof is disclosed, comprising the steps of (1) reacting a sugar with alcohol to obtain an alkyl glycoside reaction product containing unreacted alcohol, (2) establishing a moving liquid film of the alkyl glycoside reaction product and (3) contacting the moving liquid film with steam or an inert gas at a temperature of from 50.degree. to 200.degree. C. The alkyl glycoside or aqueous solution thus obtained contains little unreacted alcohol and is excellent in hue and odor.

  • Patent number: 4739092
Abstract: A phosphoric ester salt of high purity is produced by converting a phosphoric ester in a mixture containing the phosphoric ester and one or more nonionic compounds into a phosphoric ester salt by using a basic compound, and extracting nonionic compounds from the above mixture by using a mixed solvent of aliphatic hydrocarbons or cycloaliphatic hydrocarbons, a lower alcohol and water. The above method is applicable to a non-crystalline phosphoric ester from which nonionic compounds cannot be removed by recystallization. The above obtained phosphoric ester salt of high purity can be used as it is or after condensation.
