  • Patent number: 8015257
Abstract: Multiple user boxes are created beforehand in the hard disk drive of the MFP. The user specifies his own user box and saves image data therein. If the user extracts the image data from his user box and moves it to a folder on his own personal computer, the MFP 1 detects this action. When this user box is specified during a subsequent reading of image data, the storage destination for the image data is automatically deemed to be the folder on the personal computer to which the image data was previously moved.

  • Patent number: 7949770
Abstract: A data management server that can prevent data stored in a user's folder on the server from being used by others when the user is not working, even in a client-server network environment. The data management server that manages data that can be used by multiple terminal devices, and constitutes a storage device in which separate storage areas are allocated for each user. A determination unit determines which of the terminal devices is in a state in which it is able to access the data management server. When a terminal device issues a request to access a separate storage area of the storage device, if it is determined by the determination unit that the terminal device of a user associated with the separate storage area is in a state in which it can access the data management server, an access management unit permits the requesting terminal device to access the data stored in the separate storage area.

  • Patent number: 7814553
Abstract: A multifunction device includes a storage controlling portion for causing document data, which are to be given by a user who has logged in to a different user, to be stored in a box owned by the different user, and an access authority setting portion for granting an access authority to make access to the document data, to both of the users in the event that the document data are stored in the box and, also, for erasing the access authority, which has been granted to the user, when the user logs out. Thus, in the event that the user stores the data such as document data or the like in the box other than his or her personal box, the user can be permitted to make access to the data, while the owner of such box is warranted a high security and conveniences of data management are ensured.

  • Patent number: 7454507
Abstract: Upon reception of a data transmission request, an image input device 1 searches for transmission means available for transmission to a destination, such as transfer to FTP server or transmission by e-mail, and lists all the extracted available transmission means. Image input device 1 then creates a selection menu executed as an applet for receiving a selection of transmission methods from the destination. The destination can use the selection menu acquired from image input device 1 to designate the priority order of desired transmission means and a file name in reception of transmitted data. The selection menu thus created is transmitted to the image input device 1.

  • Publication number: 20040017588
Abstract: The data transmission apparatus accesses the server using an IP address registered in advance and user information (destination information) is obtained there from. At the same time, group information is sent to the server, and a user name list is obtained from the server based on this information. Only the user names existing on the list are registered in the MFP as destinations from the obtained user name list. As a result, destinations are automatically registered, and only the addresses of persons presumed to use the data transmission apparatus are registered in the apparatus, thereby making the apparatus more convenient to use.

  • Patent number: 5619410
Abstract: Sentence segmentation means performing sentence segmentation on the Japanese text data to be processed. Morpheme analysis means divides sentence-by-sentence data into morphemes and analyzes the resultant morphemes on the basis of information regarding morpheme-by-morpheme continuation contained in an analytical dictionary. Morpheme dictionary information development means develops the contents of the morpheme dictionary including part of speech information, semantic classification information, sentence pattern information and noted term information. Keyword candidate extraction means extracts keyword candidates from sentence-by-sentence data on the basis of the part of speech information and the like of each morpheme. Case information acquisition means acquires case information from information regarding the classes of case of keyword candidates immediately preceding noted terms stored in a noted term table and case class classification information for stored in a case class conversion table.

  • Patent number: 5204725
Abstract: The improvement of a complex machine comprises a host computer, a duplicator, a laser printer, and a sheet supply unit. In a first sheet supply mode a sheet is supplied from the sheet supply unit to the duplicator; and in a second sheet supply mode a sheet is supplied from the sheet supply unit to the printer. The complex machine further comprises sheet transfer mode selecting means for selecting one of an interruption mode wherein the sheet supply mode currently set up is interrupted to proceed to a selected sheet supply mode, a wait mode wherein the selected sheet supply mode is effected after completing the process of the sheet supply mode currently set, and a rejection mode wherein proceeding to the selected sheet supply mode is rejected when either one of the first and second sheet supply modes is currently set up and the other one of the two sheet supply modes is selected concurrently.

  • Patent number: 5198858
Abstract: An image forming apparatus is provided with a host computer, a copier, and a printer operable in response to instructions from the host computer. Upon receipt of image information from the host computer, the printer forms an image on a first sheet whereas the copier forms on a second sheet an image of a document placed on a document platform. The apparatus is further provided with a document conveying device for conveying to the document platform the first sheet as a document on which the image has been formed by the printer. The apparatus has at least two drive modes: a single drive mode at which all the transcripts are prepared by sole use of the printer and a double drive mode at which the first sheet having the image formed by the printer is conveyed by the document conveying device so that the rest of transcripts are prepared by the copier.

  • Patent number: 5188354
Abstract: A paper storage device comprises a sensor for generating a detection signal indicative of the arrival of a top level of a stack of papers on a paper support tray at a predetermined height so that the paper support tray can be lowered in response to the detection signal, and a counter for counting the number of papers successively stacked on the paper support tray so that an indication that the paper support tray is held at an improper position can be provided when the counter counts a predetermined number of the papers during the absence of the detection signal from the sensor. Once the top level of the paper stack on the paper support tray has attained the uppermost limit position, the top level of the paper stack on the paper support tray is lowered to a lowermost limit position to secure the orderly disposition.

  • Patent number: 5151735
Abstract: A sheet storing apparatus for stacking sheets discharged from a printer and storing the sheets therein, the apparatus having a plurality of trays, separate driving systems of the trays, and a detector for detecting failure in sheet storing operation on each of the trays. When the detector detects failure in sheet storing operation on one of the trays, successive sheets are transported to another tray. Further, each of the trays has a mechanism for moving the tray horizontally and a mechanism for moving the tray vertically, and the movements of the trays are independent. When it is detected that one of the trays has trouble in its horizontal movement mechanism and/or vertical movement mechanism, sheets are received on the other trays.

  • Patent number: 5139254
Abstract: Disclosed is a sheet storing apparatus with a sheet tray which is movable up and down. When the tray moves down to a position which is specified according to the sheet size, fullness of the sheet tray is judged. The sheet storing apparatus has a sheet sensor for detecting a sheet on the tray and a top surface sensor for detecting the upper surface of the tray on which sheets are to be stacked or the top surface of a sheet stack on the tray being at a specified position. A specified time after the sheet sensor detects no sheets, the tray starts moving up, and the upward movement of the tray is stopped when the top surface sensor generates a detection signal. The sheet storing apparatus further has a paddle wheel for aligning sheets transported onto the tray. A specified time after the top surface sensor generates a detection signal in a situation that the sheet sensor detects a sheet, the tray starts moving down.
