  • Publication number: 20020064340
Abstract: An optical wavelength-multiplexing system allowing long distance transmission with reducing effects of noise and fiber nonlinealities is disclosed. First wavelength-multiplexing light and second wavelength-multiplexing light within a wavelength bandwidth of 100 nm or more are propagated in opposite directions through the same optical fiber. The wavelength band of the first wavelength-multiplexing light is set to a shorter wavelength side as compared to that of the second wavelength-multiplexing light. In addition, excitation light having a wavelength shorter than the wavelength band of the first wavelength-multiplexing light is propagated through the optical fiber in the same direction as the second wavelength-multiplexing light. The excitation light is shorter in wavelength than the first wavelength-multiplexing light by an amount determined depending on Raman scattering characteristic of the optical fiber.

  • Patent number: 5745613
Abstract: A wavelength division-multiplexing optical communication apparatus and method includes a plurality of modulators for respectively modulating the intensity of a plurality of light rays, each having a different wavelength from one another, with a data signal from a signal source, a wavelength division-multiplexer for combining the light from the modulators, fiber optics for transmitting light from the wavelength division multiple and a wavelength division-multiplexed light receiver for separating the light from the transmission path fiber optics by wavelength (and receiving the separated light, respectively. The light modulators control or select a magnitude of the phase modulation caused at the time of intensity modulation, and the modulator for each light wavelength is separately controlled and selected for the operating point, so as to cause a phase modulation component which minimizes the waveform distortion after transmission through the transmission path fiber optics.

  • Patent number: 5309628
Abstract: An assembling position-adjusting mechanism of a magnetic disk apparatus able to adjust the azimuth, radial alignment, and index of a magnetic head by adjusting a position thereof during the assembling process of a spindle motor. A positioning head movable in a direction perpendicular to a top surface of a table is provided. A plurality of positioning pins are provided on the bottom of the positioning head. Moving mechanisms are provided in the positioning head so that the bottom surface of the positioning head is movable and rotatable parallel to the top surface of the table. Each positioning pin of the positioning head is inserted into a respective positioning hole of a motor assembly so as to move the motor assembly with a movement of the positioning head so that the spindle motor of the motor assembly is at an appropriate position relative to the magnetic head of the main body of the magnetic disk apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4653762
Abstract: A motorcycle is provided with first and a second fuel tanks. These tanks are provided with fuel charging ports respectively. Both the fuel tanks are intercommunicated through a communicating pipe. Since the communicating pipe can be shut by a cock, fuel can be charged into both the tanks promptly through both the fuel charging ports. The communicating pipe is provided with a fuel pump actuated by a diaphragm communicated with an intake manifold of an engine. Accordingly, even if one of the fuel tanks is disposed at a location lower than the carburetor, fuel within the fuel tank can be fed to the carburetor via the other fuel tank. The first and the second fuel tanks may be combined to constitute a single fuel tank.

  • Patent number: 4489803
Abstract: A rear suspension system for motorcycles in which a front end of a rear wheel supporting member having the rear wheel supported thereby is connected to a chassis frame in such a manner as to permit oscillation thereof in an upward or downward direction, a damper having one end connected to the chassis frame is connected to the rear wheel supporting member at the other end thereof by a first link, and the chassis frame and the first link are connected by the second link. Due to an arrangement of the first link in which its longitudinal axis extends substantially in a vertical direction, a space occupied by the progressive link mechanism is made to be relatively small and thus it is possible to provide a sufficient space for units such as a battery and air cleaner and the like.
