  • Patent number: 6273232
Abstract: In an electric parking lock device having a motor for generating a drive force for engagement and release of a parking lock pawl from a parking lock gear in response to a command output from a selector switch. A compression spring if used for applying a force so as to release the parking lock pawl from the parking lock gear. A shift arm is provided on a side which is closer to an input end of the parking lock pawl than to the compression spring, whereby when driving of the parking lock pawl in a lock releasing direction is effected, the motor side and the parking lock pawl side are connected directly, while when driving the parking lock pawl in a lock effecting direction, the compression spring is interposed between the motor side and the parking lock pawl, so that a manual lock release operation can be performed within a range where the compression spring is allowed to be deflected irrespective of the state of the motor.

  • Patent number: 6000680
Abstract: A portable, hydraulic prying machine is disclosed for use, for example, in prying open the doors of apartment buildings or of motor vehicles by rescue members in the event of an emergency. A motor and pump assembly, comprising an electric motor and a hydraulic pump driven thereby, is coupled to a pry assembly solely through the medium of a flexible conduit for delivery of a fluid under pressure from the pump to a hydraulic cylinder included in the pry assembly. The hydraulic cylinder on extension causes a pair of prying jaws to spread apart for forcing open the door. Being practically separate from the rest of the machine, the pry assembly is easier of handling. Additional embodiments are disclosed in which the pry assembly is replaced by other tool assemblies for other operations.

  • Patent number: 5974926
Abstract: A shear assembly to be replaceably installed in a portable, hydraulic punch press for cutting L sectioned steel strips at, typically, 45 degrees preparatory to combining them into rectangular frames at sites of construction. The shear assembly comprises a fixed shear in the shape of a female V with an apex angle of 90 degrees, and a movable shear in the shape of a male V movable up and down past the fixed shear. Formed in fixed relation to the fixed shear is a work rest having a pair of contact surfaces with a ridge therebetween in alignment with the apex of the fixed shear. The contact surfaces of the work rest are so positioned and angled that the opposite ends of an L sectioned steel strip can be cut off into angles of symmetrical shape. An alternate embodiment is disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5875629
Abstract: A portable one-hand-operable, hydraulic punching machine is disclosed which comprises at least two pumps driven by an electric motor, and a single-acting, spring-return cylinder driven by one of the pumps for a variety of punching operations such as cutting, perforating, and wrenching. The machine has a pump housing and a cylinder housing disposed end to end, with a partition therebetween in which there are formed a fluid supply passageway for supplying a hydraulic fluid under pressure from one pump to the cylinder fluid chamber, a fluid return passageway for returning the fluid from the cylinder fluid chamber to the pump fluid chamber, and a spool chamber open to the return passageway. In order to hold the return passageway closed during cylinder extension, and to open the same for cylinder contraction a return valve is provided which includes a spool reciprocably received in the spool chamber.

  • Patent number: 5802850
Abstract: A portable punching machine is disclosed which has a hydraulic, single acting, spring return cylinder for linearly moving a punch toward and away from a die. The cylinder is driven in turn by a hydraulic pump disposed in a fluid chamber built into the machine. The pump fluid chamber is in constant communication with a fluid control chamber accommodating an elastic air bag capable of contraction and expansion for keeping constant the amount of hydraulic oil in the pump fluid chamber. Characteristically, a spacer of polyurethane foam or like elastic material is loosely inserted in the air bag in order to prevent the mutual contact of the inside surface of the bag, such contact being undesirable because the inside surface of the bag is customarily covered with a sticky parting agent that has been used in molding the bag from rubber.

  • Patent number: 5704457
Abstract: A driving force from a motor is transmitted through a pinion, a first gear, a second gear, a third gear, a link, a control lever, a control shaft, a parking shaft and a parking lever to a parking pole. A lost motion spring is mounted between the control shaft and the parking lever for biasing the parking pole toward a parking gear. A one-way clutch is mounted between the third gear and a housing. The one-way clutch permits the driving force from the motor to be transmitted to the parking pole and prevents the resilient force of the lost motion spring from being transmitted back to the motor.

  • Patent number: 5690580
Abstract: A neutral apparatus for use on an electric vehicle is disclosed. The neutral apparatus comprises a control state detector and a neutral mechanism control circuit. The control state detector detects whether or not the motor control unit is in a predetermined control state. The neutral mechanism control unit can instruct the neutral mechanism to interrupt the power train according to the output signal from the control state detector. If the motor control unit is not in the predetermined control state, this is detected by the control state detector. In response to the output signal from the control state detector, the neutral mechanism control circuit causes the neutral mechanism to interrupt the power train. Thus, power flow from the motor to the drive wheels is interrupted. The control state detector is comprised of a voltage comparator circuit for comparing the output voltage from the motor driver circuit with a reference voltage and produces an output signal.

  • Patent number: 5537902
Abstract: A portable, power-driven machine for cutting a threaded rod to any required length by forcing a blade punch into a die cavity. The die has a series of semicircular internal threads which extends across the die cavity and which mates with the thread on the threaded rod in order to protect the latter from being ruined by cutting. The internal threads on the die have a depth less than the depth of the thread on the threaded rod, and clearances are provided between the flanks of the die thread flanks and those of the thread on the threaded rod, so that the die contacts the threaded rod only between the roots of the threads on the die and the crests of the thread on the threaded rod, in order to prevent those of the die threads which are located next to the die cavity, from being ruined by the impact of cutting.
