    Abstract: A stereo lens apparatus includes two optical systems arranged in parallel. Each of the two optical systems includes, in order from an object side to an image side, first to third lens units. An optical path is bent at a position between the first and second lens units and at a position between the second and third lens units in each of the two optical systems so that an inter-optical axis distance between two third lens units is narrower than an inter-optical axis distance between two first lens units. Part of one holding mechanism of two holding mechanisms that are configured to respectively hold the two third lens units is located in a concave portion provided on the other holding mechanism, and part of the other holding mechanism is located in a convex portion provided on the one holding mechanism.

    Abstract: A spring layout system or the like is then executed to nodes (A to U in FIG. 10) and edges (e1 to e15) defined in a binary relation model database to thereby automatically draw a graph. Nodes are replaced by rings and edges are replaced by springs, and a layout is calculated so that forces of the springs (a repulsive force and an attractive force) acting on the rings can realize a minimum energy state of the system. Node coordinate positions are determined based on the calculated forces, and the nodes and the edges are drawn in the form of a graph. The “repulsive force” is a force generated between every pair of nodes present within a certain distance, and the nodes are dispersed and overlaps of nodes are removed by the repulsive force. The “attractive force” is a force generated between every pair of nodes present within the certain distance. The nodes connected to each other by edges by the attractive force are closer to each other.

In other words, in the present invention a textual document is treated as knowledge constructed from a single word or plural words. The knowledge extracted from the textual document is structured to form a knowledge structure (such as a graph structure constituted from nodes and edges). At least one link can be established between each of the knowledge structure elements and a semantically closest concept entry in a hierarchical concept dictionary.

    Abstract: A method of retrieving a plurality of records stored in a database first generates a retrieval data set by selecting a plurality of records from the database. Then, an item element of a data item designated from a record in the retrieval data set is specified, and the difference in item elements between optional two records is numerically represented and computed as a dissimilarity. Next, the records in the retrieval data set are plotted and displayed on the display device. At this time, the records are displayed in such a way that the distance between the two records of the plotted records corresponds to the computed dissimilarity, and a new retrieval data set is specified from the displayed records on the basis of an object record designated by the user. Thus, a new retrieval data set can be easily generated within a short time, with mis-retrieval and unnecessarily entered records reduced by plotting the records such that the difference between the records can be readily recognized.
