Patent number: 7308777Abstract: A skylight for a standing seam roof having a skylight panel housed in a frame with a vertically extending curb along two longitudinal and two lateral sides. The frame curb integrates on the longitudinal sides with U-shaped curbs formed into modified roof panels selected from the construction project. On the lateral sides, the frame curb integrates with curbs formed in two end pieces painted with the other roof panels in the project. Standing seams, which are raised above the surface of the roof, interconnect the regular roof panels. The modified roof panels interconnect with the standing seams of the regular roof panels. The lateral sides of the skylight assembly traverse at least one standing seam when integrated with the regular roof panels.Type: GrantFiled: August 5, 2005Date of Patent: December 18, 2007Inventor: Kiyoshi Sandow

Patent number: 5237788Abstract: A skylight guard assembly having an arc-shaped wire mesh screen formed of longitudinal and transverse bars. A pair of receiving brackets are attached with fasteners to the frame of the skylight and the receiving brackets have a recess formed between two upwardly extending arms which receive the outermost longitudinal bars.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 1991Date of Patent: August 24, 1993Inventor: Kiyoshi Sandow

Patent number: 5052164Abstract: A method for manufacturing an improved transparent panel assembly for fabricating wall and roofing components. The method includes the extrusion of a top and bottom member made of transparent plastic material. Each extruded member includes a top and bottom sheet with interspersed ribs for structural integrity. Each extruded member is supported in spaced relationship by a plurality of beam structures having longitudinal axes substantially normal with the direction of the internal ribs of the extruded panel members. The structure resulting from the improved method includes top and bottom panel members having internal ribs molded in an integral manner, and an elongated support structure mounted between the panel members in a direction substantially normal with the longitudinal axis of the internal ribs.Type: GrantFiled: August 30, 1989Date of Patent: October 1, 1991Assignee: Plasteco, Inc.Inventor: Kiyoshi Sandow

Patent number: 4723386Abstract: A vaulted skylight apparatus provides modular skylight panel having a pair of first and second spaced apart, generally parallel, sheets of flexible material with an insulating air space therebetween. The modular panel can be curved by cold forming so that the panels can conform to a network of structural tubing, forming a quarter round vault, a half round vault, a structural barrel vault, or the like. The sheets are supported peripherally by a frame which includes first and second frame members that are affixed respectively to the first and second panels forming a seal therewith. The first and second frame members are movably connected, holding the first and second frame members together during simultaneous cold forming of the first and second sheets into the desired curved vaulted position as aforedescribed.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 1986Date of Patent: February 9, 1988Assignee: Plasteco, Inc.Inventor: Kiyoshi Sandow

Patent number: 4703596Abstract: A grid skylight support apparatus includes a plurality of prefabricated grid row frames, each formed of a plurality of connected beam supports which define a plurality of bays. Each respective bay has a skylight curb formed by upper flanges of the beam supports that is receptive of a preassembled skylight unit. The sides of each grid row frame provide a mating edge that can register with the mating edge of an adjacent grid row frame during field assembly. The skylights have peripheral support skirts that register upon each bay and a light-transmitting skylight panel which covers the peripheral support. A plurality of cross gutters on each grid row frame, and positioned between adjacent skylights, extends at an angle toward the mating edge of the grid row frame for carrying rainwater to a main gutter channel which is formed by field-assembly of the mating edges of two adjacent grid row frames.Type: GrantFiled: September 16, 1986Date of Patent: November 3, 1987Assignee: Plasteco, Inc.Inventor: Kiyoshi Sandow

Patent number: 4301841Abstract: A multipurpose container for storing, transporting, collecting and disposing of fluids such as motor oil and the like. The multipurpose hollow container includes a top wall, a bottom wall and four connected generally rectangular side walls enclosing the interior. In the top wall is a first threaded pouring outlet having a cooperating removable sealing cap for pouring of the fluids. One side wall is concave shaped with a second threaded opening formed thereon for communication with the interior of the container for providing a funnel for collecting the spent fluid and flowing that fluid into the interior of the container. The second opening is located substantially away from and with its lowermost edge below the first opening which vents the interior to avoid splattering and minimizes overflow spillage. A perforable membrane is secured over the second opening by a removable plug to avoid leads during storage while a handle is provided to aid in transporting and placement of the container.Type: GrantFiled: October 22, 1979Date of Patent: November 24, 1981Inventor: Kiyoshi Sandow

Patent number: 4112620Abstract: A new and improved smoke and heat vent including a frame assembly pivotally attached to a curb member adapted for placement on the roof of a building or the like. The frame assembly supports a dome-shaped cover and is movable between a closed, dome supporting position and an open, released position in which the dome-shaped cover is allowed to fall or slide downwardly by itself to clear an opening for the escape of heat and smoke under emergency conditions. The initial fall of the dome-shaped cover is retarded to remove any extra load such as snow on the cover and the cover is caught by several bands attached to the curb member so that it will not fall to a floor below.Type: GrantFiled: March 10, 1977Date of Patent: September 12, 1978Assignee: Plasteco, Inc.Inventor: Kiyoshi Sandow
