    Abstract: A tape cassette receiving housing comprises a housing proper portion and a lid portion which is fixed to the housing proper portion through a hinge portion so as to enable to be opened or closed. Shaft portions are formed so as to penetrate into reel driving holes of a supply reel and a take-up reel of a tape cassette received in the housing proper portion. Elastic bodies are attached to outer peripheries of the shaft portions, and the elastic bodies are brought into contact with inner peripheral surfaces of reel driving holes. According to the above construction, a tape cassette is fixed in the tape cassette receiving housing so as not to incline the tape cassette and not to rotate the supply reel and the take-up reel.

    Abstract: A reel brake device for a tape reel of a magnetic tape cassette has a pair of braking strips for a supply reel and a take-up reel. The braking strips are formed with at least one hinged section to allow resilient deformation in order to absorb kinematic energy exerted on the braking strips from the tape reel as the reel is subjected to rotational torque or lateral force. By providing the capability of resilient deformation for the braking strips, braking engagement can be maintained even when vibration exerting rotational force is applied to the tape reels.

    Abstract: A magnetic tape cassette comprising a tape reel having a lower flange with an annular guide projection on a bottom surface thereof and a cassette casing including a lower housing portion with an annular guide portion on the inner surface thereof for limiting play of the tape reel within the cassette casing in any directions of the tape reel assemblies. Dust is generated only at a contacting section between surfaces of the annular projection and the annular recess portion. The dust, therefore, tends to fall out of circular openings of the lower housing portion, and since the edges of the flanges are prevented from coming into contact with the interior surface of the casing, no dust is formed within the cavity in which the tape is disposed; thus damage to the tape is avoided.
