  • Patent number: 5917601
Abstract: An R-.theta. robot moves a wafer between chambers according to an instruction issued by a robot controller. An optical sensor detects two edge positions of the wafer which stands still in a hand of the R-.theta. robot when the R-.theta. robot is in a predetermined stationary state. The robot controller obtains the length and the middle position of a chord of the wafer based on the two edge positions. This data is compared with the data of the length and the middle position of the chord which should be obtained when the wafer is placed in a reference position in the hand of the R-.theta. robot, so that a position difference of the wafer to be moved from the reference position is detected. The robot controller controls the operations of the R-.theta. robot in order to correct the detected position difference.

  • Patent number: 5726705
Abstract: A surface defect inspection apparatus a lighting unit shaped in an arched form laid across the path of movement of an object under inspection for illuminating its surface. A light diffusion sheet is located between the lighting unit and the path of movement of the object for forming a bright and dark light pattern on the surface of the object. A plurality of light sensors are arranged in an arched form laid across the path of movement of the object. Each of the light sensors produces an electrical signal in response to light of reflection from the surface of the object. The electrical signal is converted into an image including the bright and dark light pattern. This conversion is repeated to produce similar images in sequence for inspection of a defect which may exist on the surface of the object.

  • Patent number: 5632813
Abstract: A dipping machine has a chucking portion for engaging a holding plate to downwardly direct chip components, which are held by the holding plate, and a dipping vessel provided under the chucking portion, which is coated with a thin film of electrode paste. Conveyors horizontally transfer the holding plate holding the downwardly directed chip components, coated with the electrode paste, to a drying furnace. The drying furnace receives the holding plate holding the chip components downwardly and rotates the same by 360.degree. for drying the electrode paste. Thus, the as-formed electrodes have uniform widths on side surfaces of the chip components and the electrode paste is protected against adhesion of foreign matters such as dust, whereby it is possible to manufacture chip components with stable quality.

  • Patent number: 5305316
Abstract: In a multiplex communication system for transmitting and receiving data between a master station and a plurality of slave stations, the master station comprises a discriminator for collating an important switch information data transmitted from each slave station for reliability improvement. That is, two or more bit switch data transmitted by the slave station are compared with those stored in the master station and determined to be correct on the basis of a perfect bit level match or a bit level majority decision. Further, it is also possible to compare first data transmitted by the slave station with second data transmitted again by the slave station immediately after the first data transmission. Furthermore, it is preferable to change the access sequence from the master station to the slave stations according to power supply modes determined by ignition key switch positions for providing a higher response speed.

  • Patent number: 5275661
Abstract: A chucking portion (10) is supported at the lower part of a dip head portion (2) to be vertically movable in a horizontal state through four shafts. Two diagonally positioned two shafts 11a, 11b are formed by ball screws, and the other two (11c, 11d) serve as guide shafts. The dip head portion (2) contains a motor (12) for synchronously driving the two ball screws, and the chucking portion (10) horizontally engages a holding plate (A) holding a number of chip type electronic components (B) to downwardly direct the same. A dipping vessel (7) having a bottom surface which is coated with a thin film of paste is horizontally arranged under the dip head portion (2). Thus, it is possible to maintain the holding plate in parallel with the paste, for applying electrodes to the chip type electronic components with high accuracy.

  • Patent number: 5127487
Abstract: A system and method for automatically controlling a vehicle speed to a desired cruise speed are disclosed in which in addition to a control unit and a throttle actuator through which an opening angle of an engine throttle valve is adjusted so that the vehicle speed detected by a vehicle speed sensor coincides with a target cruise speed set by a vehicle driver through a set switch, a vehicle speed determining circuit is provided for determining whether the vehicle speed detected by the vehicle speed sensor exceeds a lowest speed limit above which the cruse control by the control unit and throttle actuator becomes effective. When the vehicle speed is below the lowest speed limit, the power supply to the throttle actuator is interrupted so that the cruise control by means of the throttle actuator is cancelled.

  • Patent number: 5058698
Abstract: A cruise control system for an automotive vehicle with a manual or automatic transmission, includes an inhibition circuit. The inhibiting circuit blocks communication between a power supply and an actuator and/or a controller when the manual transmission is set in a predetermined gear or when the automatic transmission is set in a driving range other than the drive range, so as to inhibit the controller from operating in the cruise control mode. When the vehicle is provided with an automatic transmission which is selectively set in first, second, third or fourth gear while the shift lever is set in the drive range position, the cruise control system includes a first inhibiting circuit which blocks the communication when the shift lever is set in a position other than the drive range position, and a second inhibiting circuit which blocks the communication when the automatic transmission is set in either the first or second range while the shift lever is set in the drive range position.
