  • Patent number: 5019836
Abstract: When a print line is printed on a printing paper by supplying a print current to a thermal head, heating elements within the thermal head and a transfer ribbon are easily adhered together due to melted ink on surface of the transfer ribbon. Due to such adhering between the heating elements and the transfer ribbon, a white line is easily formed on a printing paper. In order to prevent such white line from being formed, the heating elements must be prevented from being cooled down after printing each print line. More specifically, in a period between a first time when each print line is completely printed and a second time when a printing paper is to be transported forward to a next print line, the heating elements are heated by relatively small heating value which is sufficient to melt a adhering portion formed between the heating elements and the transfer ribbon but which is insufficient to perform the printing.

  • Patent number: 4972207
Abstract: A thermal printing system of this type is able to obviate loosening of the paper sheet stock during its feeding step prior to printing, and thereby to prevent crumpling of the paper and information of misaligned print from occuring. A thermal printing system capable of performing aforesaid function can be achieved by making the printing system as such one comprising, a platen, a pair of pinch rollers one end of each of which is rotaably supported by each one of a pair of pinch roller levers and is resiliently biased by a pinch roller lever tensioning spring so that each pinch roller can be brought into tight contact with aforesaid platen, and a paper stock holding cassette case attached with a paper feed roller for feeding paper stock for printing, in which the peripheral speed of the platen is set higher than that of the paper feed roller of the paper holding cassette.

  • Patent number: 4962392
Abstract: Each of the parts or components constitutes the thermal head holder is designed to be small in size, thin thickness and having such a shape as can be readily fabricated by press forming of metal sheet or by moulding plastic material, in addition, the thermal head supporting means as a sub-assembly is attached to the central part of the rotary shaft so that it can be supported in a manner of one point central support type suspension.Depression of the thermal head utilizing this supporting means against a platen roller is performed by urging, relying on cam action, a thermal head urging lever having a length considerably shorter in axial direction and very light weight, thereby the depression can be applied to the platen of a thermal printing system via a depression spring disposed at the central part of the thermal head holder and normal to the aforesaid rotary shaft and in a central support type manner.

  • Patent number: 4947185
Abstract: In a thermal printing system having an automatic paper feeding mechanism paper may be misfed and become crumpled between one of a pair of spring biased pinch rollers and the platen of the printing machine. A mechanism is provided for automatically releasing pressure between the rollers and the platen, wherein a depression/release lever is provided with a cam disposed between supporting members of the pinch rollers, and the lever is actuated when a frame of the printing machine is raised to provide access to the machine, causing the cam to widen the space between the pinch rollers and the platen so that the crumpled paper can be easily removed.

  • Patent number: 4774525
Abstract: A thermal transfer type multicolor printer including: a frame; a sprocket wheel, rotatably mounted to the frame, for feeding a printing paper, having feeding holes, in one of both a forward direction and a reverse direction in a selective manner, the sprocket wheel having sprocket pins mounted thereon adapted to engage feed holes of the printing paper for feeding the printing paper, the feed holes each having a trailing edge, and the sprocket wheel being adapted to rotate at a first foward peripheral speed when the printing paper is fed in the forward direction for printing and at a first reverse peripheral speed when the printing paper is fed in the reverse direction; a platen roller, rotatably mounted on the frame and adapted to rotate at a second forward peripheral speed for feeding the printing paper in the forward direction and at a second reverse peripheral speed for feed the printing paper in the reverse direction; a thermal head for transferring a heat dissolving ink of an ink ribbon, set over the pla

  • Patent number: 4240862
Abstract: A printing system for a boarding pass and/or a baggage tag comprises an operating unit; a housing; a control unit in the housing receiving instructions from the operating unit; and two printing units in the housing controlled with the control unit. One printing unit includes: a roll of printing paper strip; a feeding mechanism for drawing out the paper strip; guide members for the strip; a dotting printer for printing characters on the strip; a cutting unit for cutting the strip after being printed; and an ejecting mechanism for ejecting the printed and cut printing paper strip as a boarding pass or a baggage tag from the housing. The other printing unit includes: a roll of a second printing paper strip, and a similar feeding mechanism, guide members, dotting printer, cutting unit, and an ejecting mechanism for ejecting the printed and cut second printing paper strip as a baggage tag from the housing.
