  • Patent number: 8327151
Abstract: A biometrics authentication system uses biometrics authentication media to simplify the process of issuing biometrics authentication media, and reduce issuing costs. A biometrics authentication application is downloaded from a server to a mobile communication terminal, and an area for authenticated biometrics information is created. A user brings this mobile communication terminal to a service area and causes an image of his own biometrics information to be captured, and this biometrics data and an account number are stored in a common area of the mobile communication terminal. Therefore, the mobile communication terminal has functions of an individual card storing biometrics information, and issuing of a card for use in biometrics authentication is completed.

  • Patent number: 7729518
Abstract: A biometrics authentication device, which uses blood vessel images of a human body to perform individual authentication, performs verification processing according to a detected body temperature. A temperature sensor, which detects the temperature of a body, is provided in a blood vessel image capture device. The temperature at the time of registration of a blood vessel image is stored together with the blood vessel image, and the temperature of the body at the time of use (at the time of verification) is detected; the temperature difference at the time of registration and at the time of use is reflected in the verification processing, and when there is a verification error, the cause of the verification error is judged from the temperatures at the time of registration and at the time of use. Whether a verification error is due to temperature can be easily distinguished.

  • Patent number: 7697730
Abstract: In a biometrics authentication device which uses biometrics information to authenticate individuals, guidance is provided such that image capture of biometrics information is performed appropriately. An image capture device is caused to perform a plurality of image capture operations (including distance measurement) at short intervals. And when image capture NG occurs frequently, a control unit stacks the NG results, and if image capture NGs are not resolved even after a prescribed number of image capture operations, judges that the relation between the body part and the image capture device must be corrected, analyzes the stacked image capture NG causes, and displays a guidance screen on a display device according to the analysis result.

  • Patent number: 7471810
Abstract: A renewal apparatus for an IC card, which utilizes biometrics information to perform individual authentication, prevents the divulgence of biometrics data during renewal, while rigorously confirming the identity of the individual. A control unit confirms the identity of the individual in biometrics authentication by the biometrics authentication functions of an old IC card, and confirmation of the identity of the individual is performed rigorously using the IC card with biometrics authentication functions. If confirmation of the identity of the individual is satisfactory, the biometrics data obtained in the biometrics authentication is registered in a new IC card. The renewal can be performed with only a single image capture operation, and divulgence of biometrics information is prevented.

  • Publication number: 20060143117
Abstract: An automated transaction device verifies individual data of storage media against input individual data, and performs automated transaction. In order to prevent degradation of service to a user even when biometric authentication is not successful, a control unit of an automated transaction device, even when biometrics authentication is unsuccessful, effects a transition to a conventional transaction based on password authentication using an IC card. Transactions are possible even when there are changes in the physical condition of the user, while maintaining the authentication accuracy of biometric authentication, contributing to improved service to the user.

Abstract: An automated transaction device verifies individual data on storage media against input individual data and performs automated transactions. An automated transaction device has biometrics authentication functions realized in a biometrics unit. A control unit of the device detects abnormal in the biometrics unit at the start of a transaction, and upon detecting an error, effects a transition to a conventional transaction based on password authentication using an IC card. Even when an abnormal occurs in the biometrics unit, a transaction based on conventional authentication is possible.
