  • Patent number: 7631585
Abstract: A kickback-inhibiting device serves to inhibit a workpiece from being lifted up by a rotating cutting blade of a cutting device. The kickback-inhibiting devices include kickback-inhibiting members and a holding device. Each of the kickback-inhibiting members is movable between an operative position and an inoperative position. In the operative position, each kickback-inhibiting member is operable to engage the workpiece from an upper side in order to inhibit the workpiece from being lifted up. In the inoperative position, each kickback-inhibiting member is positioned upwardly away from the workpiece so as not to interact with the workpiece. The holding device serves to hold the kickback-inhibiting members in the inoperative positions.

  • Patent number: 5782153
Abstract: In a desk-top circular saw comprising a base, a turntable mounted on the base, an arm provided on the rear of the base, and a saw blade assembly pivotally attached to the upper end of the arm with a pivot shaft, a horizontal cylinder is provided in the arm between the pivot shaft and a blade tilting lever. The cylinder penetrates the arm to allow airflow therethrough. Provided in front of the cylinder is a flared member including a bottom plate sloping downward and a pair of side plates, thereby forming a U-like cross section. A chip guide comprising an upper plate and side plates forming an inverted U-like cross section is fastened to the underside of the neck of the saw blade assembly. The chip guide can vertically pivot integrally with the saw blade assembly. The flared member and the chip guide jointly form a chip guide passage for guiding chips into the cylinder for disposal.

  • Patent number: 5343961
Abstract: The present invention provides a power-driven rotary tool having an improved power transmission mechanism which has little frictional resistance against a spindle rotatable about and reciprocating along a longitudinal axis. The power-driven rotary tool of the invention includes: a spindle rotatably mounted in a housing for receiving rotation of a transmission shaft; a fixed clutch member idly rotatably mounted on the spindle; a movable clutch member mounted on the spindle to face the fixed clutch cam; a coil spring for pressing the movable clutch member towards the fixed clutch member; and a motor for rotating the fixed clutch member. The spindle has three ball spline grooves and the movable clutch member has three ball grooves. The movable clutch member is coupled with the spindle to be rotatable integrally therewith and reciprocate along a longitudinal axis via three balls.
