  • Patent number: 7857567
Abstract: Clearance can be secured, the thrust of a bolt provided with a left-hand external screw thread is stabilized and the costs of component members are reduced in attaching a steering member to a body frame. A bolt-and-nut fastening mechanism includes a right-hand bolt 4 provided with a metal-to-metal contact locking mechanism 7 on a threaded part, a left-hand bolt 5 provided with an internal screw thread 8 with which the bolt engages, and a fixing nut 6 capable of engaging with the left-hand screw thread 9 of the left-hand bolt 5 or a member 14 provided with an internal screw thread with which the left-hand screw thread 9 of the left-hand bolt 5 engages. The locking mechanism 7 of the bolt 4 thrusts the left-hand bolt 5 forward so that the gap between the top surface 13 of the head of the left-hand bolt and an inner panel 2 is narrowed, and the head of the left-hand bolt 5 comes into contact with the inner panel 2 to define a clearance between a body frame and the bracket 3 of a steering member.

  • Patent number: 7016775
Abstract: A controller controls an electric motor to provide assist power corresponding to steering operation for an electric power steering apparatus. The controller comprises a detecting device, a filtering device, a judging device and a determining device. The detecting device detects present voltage of a power source for the electric motor. The filtering device filters the present voltage based on a small time-constant when the voltage of the power source increases and based on a large time-constant when the voltage of the power source decreases. The judging device judges whether the filtered voltage is lower than a predetermined threshold. And, the determining device determines being abnormality of the power source when it is judged that the filtered voltage is lower than the threshold.

  • Publication number: 20050191152
Abstract: A bolt and nut can be smoothly engages with a mating nut and a mating bolt, respectively, even if the threads of the mating nut and the mating bolt have metal particles or paint particles sticking thereto. The bolt has a regularly threaded part (3) capable of being regularly engaged with the mating nut, and a cylindrical guide part (4) extending from the regularly threaded part and having a diameter smaller than the minor diameter of the internal thread of the mating nut. A slot (5) is formed in the end surface of the cylindrical guide part.

  • Patent number: 6908270
Abstract: A self-locking bolt has a head with a bearing surface and a threaded part extending from the bearing surface and provided with an external thread of a pitch P for fastening to a first member when the head and threaded part are rotated in a fastening direction. There are n locking projections or recesses at equal angular intervals on the bearing surface, heights or depths of the locking projections or recesses from the bearing surface increasing or decrease gradually in a direction opposite the fastening direction from maximums to minimums with edges of the locking projections or recesses at junctions of the bearing surface and end walls of the locking projections or recesses at the maximums. The maximum height of the edge of the locking projections from the bearing surface of the head is nearly equal to and less than P/n. A second member that is between the bearing surface and the first member when the head and threaded part are rotated in the fastening direction bulges into the locking recesses.

  • Patent number: 6795762
Abstract: A steering apparatus controller for an electric power steering apparatus, which includes an electric motor for generating assist torque for assisting steering of a steering wheel and the steering apparatus controller is designed to execute a feedback control of the applied drive voltage to the electric motor based on the detection result of the actual current that flows through the motor. A sensor detects the actual current to produce the detection result. When detecting an abnormal decrease of the drive voltage of the sensor, a voltage controller maintains the applied voltage to the electric motor at the voltage at a predetermined time before the drive voltage abnormally decreased.

  • Patent number: 6729435
Abstract: A control apparatus of an electric power steering system has first to fourth calculators and an abnormality detector. The first calculator calculates an assist current command value, which corresponds to assist force for reducing steering force of the steering wheel, based on the steering torque of the steering wheel. The second to fourth calculators calculate a compensation current command value, which corresponds to compensation force for compensating for movement of the steering wheel, based on the angular velocity of the steering wheel that has been estimated based on the terminal-to-terminal voltage of the motor. The abnormality detector detects an abnormality of the terminal voltages of the motor. When the abnormality detector detects an abnormality, the second to fourth calculators substitute zero for the steering wheel angular velocity and then calculates the compensation current command value.

  • Patent number: 6696807
Abstract: A control apparatus of an electric power steering system has calculating means, controlling means, determining means suppressing means, canceling means. Calculating means calculates an assist current value that corresponds to the assist force based on steering torque of a steering wheel. Controlling means executes assist control of the motor based on the assist current value. Determining means determines an abnormality in the circuit. Suppressing means suppresses the assist control when an abnormality in the circuit is determined. If the determination of an abnormality has continued longer than a predetermined time since the suppression of the assist control, the suppressing means opens relay means that permits electric power to be supplied to the motor. When it is determined that the circuit returns to normal with the assist control suppressed, the canceling means cancels the suppression of the assist control.
