  • Publication number: 20090091781
Abstract: To restrain that an adjustment is performed by a printer driver by matching an order for setting items by a user and a priority order between the items when an adjustment is performed by a printer driver. The application 3 obtains a PrintTicket and PrintCapabilities from a printer driver 1 (S11, S12), combines and displays a print setting screen on which items included in the PrintTicket are disposed (S13). A selection is received from among setting values which can be selected that is included in the PrintCapabilities as for each setting item on the print setting screen to update the PrintTicket, and transmits the updated PrintTicket to the printer driver 1 (S14, S15). The printer driver 1 judges consistency of the obtained PrintTicket and performs an adjustment when there is inconsistency (S21 to S23).

  • Publication number: 20070195367
Abstract: The present invention provides a computer readable medium recording a printer control program for executing in a computer a command generation of generating a command that instructs a printer on operation and a command transmission of converting a command containing a predetermined amount of data into a packet and transmitting the packet command, wherein the computer executes: generating a preprocessing command for actuating a printing mechanism before a coloring agent is attached to a printing medium, and generating a dummy command to be included in a packet so as to obtain the predetermined amount of data, which will be discarded by the printer, and generating one or more packets including the dummy command and the preprocessing command.

  • Publication number: 20040085563
Abstract: An individual setting dialog box DB2 for printer properties, which is open at the time of printing a document according to an application program, has a ‘Reset to Default’ button BT1. In response to a click of this button BT1, entries in input boxes of the individual setting dialog box DB2 are restored to settings of various pieces of information read from a setting information storage data file Dev. The setting information storage data file Dev is specified through activation of printer properties executed by the operating system. The operator may specify desired settings, for example, frequently used settings, for the contents of the data file Dev. This arrangement enables the current settings of printer properties to be restored to the operator's desired settings by a simple click of the button BT1.

  • Patent number: 6295136
Abstract: A printer driver of the present invention informs the operator of some pieces of information specified on another tab during data input operations on a predetermined tab. This structure makes the printer driver easy to use. Composite image data stored as display image data into a display image memory include image data representing a Main tab CD3 and image data representing data of Paper Size and Printing Orientation input on a Paper tab CD4. A composite image including the Main tab CD3 and the data of Paper Size and Printing Orientation input on the Paper tab CD4 is accordingly displayed on a CRT. This structure informs the operator of the data specified on the Paper tab CD4, while the operator carries out data input operations on the Main tab CD3.

  • Patent number: 5592595
Abstract: The image processing performance of a present day or existing page printer, e.g., electrophotographic printer, is improved and accelerated with the use of a detachable intelligent cartridge which contains a CPU and necessary memory to process print data into image dated for the electronic control unit of the printer to which the cartridge is attached. Depending, upon the page description language (PDL) to be employed, a cartridge can be selected for use with the printer and accelerate its PDL conversion and printing output. The intelligent cartridge CPU, which is different from the printer CPU, receives print data are from the printer and, since the data bus connecting the intelligent cartridge and the electronic control unit of the printer has only a read only capability from the electronic control unit, data transfer to the cartridge is made possible by utilizing the print data as an index for the read address accomplished by the printer CPU.
