  • Patent number: 5419219
Abstract: A geared motor for an automotive powered seat which is so constructed that a plurality of output gears are disposed around a pinion gear of one single motor such as to be displaceable between an engagement position where one of the output gears is engaged with the pinion gear and a disengagement position where other remainder of the output gears are retained away from the pinion gear. A selection gear and a cam are provided to cause displacement of a selected one of the output gears towards the pinion gear for engagement therewith, so that a drive force of one motor may be outputted to plural seating-posture adjustment devices. A gear selection motor is provided to control rotation of those selection gear and cam for that selective gear engagement purpose.

  • Patent number: 5136221
Abstract: Method and device for controlling a powered automotive seat of a rotatable type, wherein said seat is caused to move to a neutral position where said seat is free from contact with other adjacent fittings or other occupant, before being subjected to automatic rotation between drive position and climbing/descending position. Further, such automatic rotation of seat is permitted only when a door detector detects the door to be opened at an opening angle larger than a predetermined angle.

  • Patent number: 5130622
Abstract: Method and device for controlling a side support in a powered seat, in which the side support device is controlled in its opening/closing motion in order that it is not moved repeatedly sensitive to each of acceleration being applied to the seat during driving on a curved road, by virtue of a standard checking process for determining an excessive acceleration, and then a short and long hold time system for holding the side support device in unmoved state against repeated or plural intermittent occurrences of accelerations being applied to the seat.

  • Patent number: 5095257
Abstract: A method and device for controlling a headrest in an automotive seat. The method and device are programmed in a central processing unit, according to which the headrest is firstly raised from the use position upon a seat back, thus making greater the rotation radius along which the headrest is rotated, and then rotatively displaced from the use position to a non-use position, in order to attain a good backward view field at the rear window of the automobile. Thus, no contact is made between the bottom surface of the headrest and upper surface of the seat back, during the displacements of the headrest between its use and non-use positions. The processing steps in the present invention involves detecting a rear-seat occupant, and separate headrest controlling by either of a driver and rear-seat occupant.

  • Patent number: 4977973
Abstract: A headrest control device and a headrest drive mechanism for use with an automotive rear seat are disclosed. In the headrest control device, it is determined whether an occupant is present or absent in a rear seat and, if no occupant is detected, then, in linkage with gear change to reverse, the headrest of the rear seat is rotated forwardly and downwardly from its support position to its storage position situated below the backward field of view line of the driver, so that a good backward visual field can be secured for the driver in backing the car.

  • Patent number: 4924162
Abstract: A method of controlling a side support device which is provided in a seat for a vehicle such as an automobile and the like. In the method, an arbitrary support position can be set manually by driving and controlling a motor by means of a manual switch operation. Also, a closed position and an open position which are respectively present close to the arbitrary support position can be respectively set with one touch automatically by driving and controlling the motor by means of an automatic switch operation.

  • Patent number: 4885513
Abstract: A side support device for use with a seat in a vehicle is disclosed. In the device, an inclination sensing switch for detecting the inclination of the seat is arranged in the seat and is also connected through a relay to a motor which is used to open or close a side support provided in the seat. The side support can be moved to its open or closed position according to the inclination of the seat.
