  • Patent number: 5506738
Abstract: A tape cassette includes a pair of pinch rollers 118, 119 for guiding a magnetic tape T movably provided in a cassette opening 75 of shell body 71. Both ends of a roller shaft 124, 125 rotatably supporting each pinch roller 118, 119 are supported, and there are provided, around middle portions of these roller shafts, receiving portions 120b, 121b swingably holding the pinch rollers 118, 119. Therefore, the receiving portions 120b, 121b provide the self aligning effect of the pinch rollers 118, 119 with respect to the roller shafts 124, 125. Accordingly, it is possible to mitigate the dimensional accuracies and installation accuracies of component parts, and to prevent each roller shaft from being deflected by the pressure of a capstan.

  • Patent number: 5276580
Abstract: A tape cassette (1) comprises a case body consisting of an upper half case (2) and a lower half case (3), a pair of spools (7,8) for winding a tape, supported for rotation within the case body and provided respectively with circumferentially arranged toothed portions (7a.sub.1,8a.sub.1), a locking member (11) placed for sliding within the case body and provided with locking fingers (11a.sub.1,11a.sub.2) to be brought into engagement with the front portions of the toothed portions (7a.sub.1,8a.sub.1) of the spools (7,8), and a cam portion (11d) to be brought into engagement with the positioning pin (99) of a recording/reproducing apparatus in loading the tape cassette on the recording/reproducing apparatus, and a locking spring (11c) fastened to the locking member (11) to bias the locking member (11) toward the back side of the case body.

  • Patent number: 5218502
Abstract: A tape cassette includes one or more manually settable slider elements that are detected to prevent erroneously erasing information recorded on the cassette. The element slides in a through hole in the cassette case and includes stop surfaces that limit the travel of the slider element by cooperating with protrusions or shoulders that are formed by the respective half cases making up the cassette case. The slider element also includes a click-stop protrusion that cooperates with a protrusion in the through hole that is formed in only one of the two half-cases. The slider element further includes a through slot that permits deformation of the slider element as the click-stop protrusion goes over the protrusion in the through-hole, thereby requiring less force to move the element. The stop surfaces can be formed by two spaced apart protrusions that also permit deformation of the slide element as the click-stop protrusion travels past the protrusion in the through-hole.

  • Patent number: 5210670
Abstract: A magnetic tape cassette incorporates therein a braking member which brakes reel hubs when the magnetic tape cassette is not in use, so that the reel hubs are prevented from being rotated. The braking member can be operated to release the reel hubs from their locked conditions from any side of the upper and lower parts of the cassette casing. Thus, the magnetic tape cassette of this invention can correspond with a tape cassette of the double-sided use kind, in which a cassette casing is turned over and the recording and reproduction can be performed in a cited fashion.

  • Patent number: 5206781
Abstract: A magnetic tape cassette includes a sliding member, a stopper for preventing the sliding member from being disengaged and a positioning click stopper for engaging the sliding member at a switching position at which an erase possible condition and an erasure preventing condition are chosen, the prevention stopper and the click stopper being independently provided between the sliding member inserted into an aperture in the thickness direction of the cassette casing and the insertion aperture bored through the cassette casing. The click stopper is formed of a stop portion and a guide portion continuous to the stop portion so that the switching operation of the sliding member can be performed smoothly. Thus, the magnetic tape cassette can be placed in the erase possible condition and the erasure preventing condition easily and positively.

  • Patent number: 5195001
Abstract: A rotary head type tape recording and/or reproducing apparatus comprises a rotary head drum having a rotary head for recording and/or reproducing information signals onto or from a magnetic tape helically wrapped around the rotary head drum with a predetermined wrap angle and an outer peripheral surface of the drum being free of leads for restricting the movement of the wrapped magnetic tape in the width direction; a pair of tape guides having flange portions which are located near both sides of the rotary head drum and restrict the movement of the magnetic tape in the width direction; and a head drum supporting and moving arrangement for fixing the rotary head drum and the pair of tape guides and moving so as to be in contact with or away from a cassette loading arrangement which loads and supports a tape cassette in which the magnetic tape is enclosed.

  • Patent number: 5173830
Abstract: A magnetic tape cassette includes a cassette casing composed of upper and lower cassette shells joined to each other, a pair of reel hubs rotatably disposed in the cassette casing and supported by the cassette shells, and a magnetic tape wound around the reel hubs and housed in the cassette casing. The cassette shells have a pair of sets of aligned holes defined therein for receiving hub drive shafts, respectively, and a pair of sets of circular recesses defined in inner surfaces of the cassette shells in coaxial surrounding relation to the holes. The reel hubs have axial holes for receiving the hub drive shafts and open ends loosely fitted in the recesses.

  • Patent number: 5140487
Abstract: The magnetic tape cassette of the present invention has the opening portion into which the head drum having the rotary head is inserted. The pair of tape guide members which guide the tape-like record medium so that the record medium is helically wrapped around the head drum are provided in the inside of the opening portion so as to be able to swing independently. Thus, when the head drum is inserted into the opening portion, the two tape guide members are brought in circumferential contact with the peripheral surface of the head drum accurately. Therefore, the recording and/or reproduction can be reliably carried out, which can increase reliability of the magnetic tape cassette.
