  • Patent number: 5015978
Abstract: A miniature flat relay comprising upper and lower insulating housing member. The lower member has a coil which snugly fits therein. The coil contains a core with a centrally located permanent magnet which energizes a U-shaped magnetic structure and provides a fulcrum for seesaw mounting an elongated armature. Movable electrical contacts project from opposite ends of the armature. A central section of the contacts forms hinge sections which project therefrom in order to secure the armature at said fulcrum. The armature may be made either bi-stable or monostable.

  • Patent number: 4912438
Abstract: A relay has an elongated rocking armature which is mounted on a coil assembly having a centrally located fulcrum about which the armature seesaws. The coil assembly nests in, and is supported by an insulating mounting block. A cover fits over the entire assembly and extends far enough beyond the bottom of the mounting block to form a retaining wall for receiving a sealant which may be poured therein and which thereafter solidifes. The sealant flows through holes in the mounting block and locks the coil assembly in place by integrally joining the block and coil assembly. Arms are formed on the four corners of the armature assembly, immediately over cantilever electrical contact springs. As the armature rocks, the arms affect the vibrations of the cantilever spring. That is, when the springs flex in a direction away from the arms, the effective vibrating length is the entire length of the springs.

  • Patent number: 4342016
Abstract: In a transfer-type electromagnetic relay, movable contact studs are attached to both ends of a leaf spring (38) fixed onto an armature (39) for reducing the relay thickness. Leads (26, 27) for fixed contact studs are made of a soft magnetic material. Permanent magnets (46, 47) are placed transversely on the leads with poles of the same name brought nearer to the leads. When selectively magnetized by a coil (48) wound around a housing (21, 22), the armature is swung to carry out contact transfer with a high sensitivity. The relay is rendered self holding by the permanent magnet and the soft magnetic leads. Only one permanent magnet may be used for a current-holding relay. The leaf spring has transverse and longitudinal arms for insuring contact between the movable and fixed contact studs and connection of the movable contact studs to leads thereof.
