  • Patent number: 5645928
Abstract: Heat insulation panels made from plates and the modified polyisocyanurate foams provided by a reaction of a polyisocyanate with a polyol composition mixture comprising a polyol, water, a trimerization catalyst, a carbodiimide catalyst, and an aromatic compound used as a chain extender. An amount of the aromatic compound used in the preparation is 0.5 to 10.0% by weight with respect to a total weight of the polyisocyanate and the polyol mixture.

  • Patent number: 5621051
Abstract: A process for preparation of a polyurethane-polycarbodiimide foam which comprises reacting a polyol component containing a benzylic ether type phenol resin having hydroxymethyl groups with an organic polyisocyanate component in the presence of an organotin catalyst for urethane formation and a carbodiimidating catalyt. According to this process, it is unnecessary to use fluorine-containing halogenated hydrocarbons as a blowing agent, and blowing on the spot is possible using a spray blowing machine or the like.

  • Patent number: 5371057
Abstract: A method for producing a modified polyisocyanurate foam by reacting an organic polyisocyanate, polyol and water in the presence of a trimerizing catalyst composed of a certain hydroxyalkyl quaternary ammonium compound, and a carbodiimidizing catalyst composed of a certain phosphorene oxide. The method enables production of low density modified polyisocyanurate foams with ease and rapidly without using volatile blowing agents such as CFC, HCFC, HFC and methylene chloride.

  • Patent number: 5219648
Abstract: A stampable sheet shaped-product has a skin layer consisting essentially of a foamable thermosetting resin and formed on and in one or both of surfaces of a sheet-like open cell plastic foam. Optionally, a facing material layer of a proper material may be formed on one or both of surfaces of the skin layer. Such stampable sheet shaped-product is produced by applying a composition consisting essentially of a foamable thermosetting resin onto one or both of surfaces of a sheet-like open cell plastic foam, so that the one or both surfaces is or are impregnated with the composition. Optionally, a proper facing material is placed on one or both of the surfaces, and the resulting material is subjected to a hot pressing. Alternatively, the stampable sheet shaped-product may be produced by a process including a thermal treatment step interposed between the above-described applying and hot-pressing steps.

  • Patent number: 5147897
Abstract: A method for producing a non-yellowing polyurethane urea foam, which comprises reacting an isocyanate-terminated prepolymer, obtained by the addition reaction of a polyol having a number average molecular weight of 100 to 5,000 and containing on the average 2 to 3 functional groups with an aliphatic polyisocyanate in an amount of 1.4 to 2.6 times the hydroxyl equivalent, with water in an amount of 0.4 to 5 times the isocyanate equivalent in the presence of, per 100 parts by weight of the prepolymer, 0.1 to 5 parts by weight of a carboxylic acid metal salt or 0.1 to 10 parts by weight of an amine-type catalyst.
