  • Patent number: 6847896
Abstract: A method of acquiring seismic data adapted for a land or transition zone environment including placing a location identifier in a particular location, placing a seismic sensor near the location identifier, reading the location identifer using a seismic data cable, recording seismic data acquired by the seismic sensor using the seismic data cable, and assigning sensor position coordinates to the seismic data based on measured position coordinates of the location identifier.

  • Patent number: 5668775
Abstract: A method for determining the position of seismic equipment wherein acoustic transmitters transmit spread spectrum sequences which are received by the seismic sensors in the equipment whose position has to be determined. By collecting and processing the signals thus produced, it is possible to determine the position of seismic equipment with reference to each individual sensor in the seismic equipment each time a measurement is take. The already existing conventional seismic sensors which are provided in a streamer are used to record the transmitted spread spectrum signals. By calculating time differences between the sensors' reception of a spread spectrum signal it is possible to calculate the position of the seismic equipment.

  • Patent number: 5351218
Abstract: A method for reconnection and connection of sensor groups, especially hydrophone groups or channels in a seismic cable, where the active sections in the seismic cable are connected with electronic modules or one another via connector plugs, is based on the principle that a specific number of hydrophone groups are connected symmetrically on each side of each electronic module. The number of connected hydrophone groups on each side is identical and constitutes at least one respective active section. A summation of a set of hydrophone groups in a section is performed automatically by connecting this section with another section or by connecting a respective section and the electronic module.

  • Patent number: 4635237
Abstract: Transmitting information from a central receiver and recorder utilizes plural series-connected transmission modules, each connected to a respective data acquisition unit. The transmission modules are sequentially connected along plural transmission lines, at least two of which are outgoing data transmission lines for transmitting information from the central receiver and recorder to the acquisition units. At least two other lines are incoming data transmission units to the central receiver and recorder. Each transmission module has, for each outgoing line, respective line receivers, informaiton decoders, line transmitters and matrices of transmission line selectors controlled by individual information decoders, and a selector unit which ensures that a signal from a selected outgoing transmission line is transmitted to the next module on all outgoing transmission lines.
