    Abstract: A gyratory crusher comprises a first crushing shell mounted on a crushing head, and a second crushing shell mounted on a machine frame, a crushing gap being formed between said first and second crushing shells. A method of controlling the operation of said crusher comprises measuring a parameter being representative of the stresses to which the crusher is exposed during the crushing of material, determining an average value of said parameter, determining a deviation value of said parameter, calculating a peak value based on said average value and said deviation value, comparing said peak value to a reference value, and controlling the operation of the crusher in view of said comparison between said peak value and said reference value.

    Abstract: A gyratory crusher has a crushing head on which a first crushing shell is mounted, a frame on which a second crushing shell is mounted, and a driving device, which is arranged with a rotating eccentric to cause the crushing head to execute a gyratory movement for crushing of material. The crushing head is connected to the frame of a rotation-restricting arrangement, which comprises a beater in a tank. Spinning of the crushing head is restricted by the beater being braked, during operation of the crusher, by a liquid contained in the tank.

    Abstract: A crusher has first and second crushing elements spaced apart to form a crushing gap therebetween. A measuring device is arranged to measure the instantaneous load on the crusher during at least one period to obtain a number of measured values. A calculation device is arranged to calculate a representative load value that is representative of the highest, measured instantaneous load during each such period of time. A control device is arranged to compare the representative load value with a desired value and to control the load on the crusher depending on the comparison.
