  • Publication number: 20090277189
Abstract: A method for re-gasification of LNG in which method natural gas is combusted in a burner to provide heat for evaporation of the LNG and where the heat is transferred from the burner to the LNG in a closed heat exchange system, wherein substantially pure oxygen is used in the combustion of natural gas, and that C02 is separated from the exhaust gas for export or deposition, is described. A plant for re-gasification of LNG, the plant comprising a gas fired burner (14) for generation of heat for the re-gasification, a closed heat exchange system (5, 17,25) for transfer of heat from the burner to LNG to be vaporized, the plant additionally comprising a air separation unit (10) for generation of substantially pure oxygen to be fed to the burner (14), is also described.

  • Patent number: 5074715
Abstract: An oil storage system for an offshore platform having at least one submerged storage cell in which oil is stored on top of a water volume. In fluid communication with the submerged storage cell is another submerge cell containing water, the water storage cell is in fluid communication with ambient water outside the system.

  • Patent number: 4234270
Abstract: A marine structure includes a base which is to be founded upon the sea bed. An elastic pre-stressed column is rigidly fixed to and extends upwardly from the base. A buoyant, rigid structure is fixed to the upper end of the upstanding elastic column. The buoyant, rigid structure includes a submerged part and a part projecting up above the sea level to support a deck superstructure. The pre-stressed elastic column is designed to deflect in a curved manner when the buoyant, rigid structure is subjected to environmental forces. In particular, the first nautral period of the installed structure is longer than the significant exciting wave periods. Accordingly, the main structure will oscillate about its vertical equilibrium when subjected to waves and wind thereby behaving as an articulated column.

  • Patent number: 4188157
Abstract: An offshore structure is provided for handling cryogenic fluids such as liquefied natural gas. The structure comprises a lower section of concrete and an upper section which projects up from the lower section above the sea level to support a deck superstructure. The lower section is formed of a plurality of cells and at least one of the cells houses an insulated tank for the storage of low temperature fluids. The tank or tanks are completely submerged when in operation and are rigidly supported by the associated cell. Each tank comprises a primary and secondary barrier with insulation associated therewith and the tank(s) communicates with the deck superstructure through an access tunnel system.
