  • Patent number: 4391781
Abstract: A device for dispensing thermally volatilizable substances of the type having a heating surface against which is placed a mat which is impregnated with a volatilizable substance. A clamp arm, which is biased toward the heating surface, presses the mat against such surface, and a lever, which is depressible, when depressed engages the clamp arm and moves it away from the heating surface, thereby releasing the mat to facilitate replacement thereof.

  • Patent number: 4378081
Abstract: An actuator-overcap for use with pressurized aerosol containers of the type having tilt-actuatable valves. The actuator-overcap includes a fixed portion and a tab portion movably attached thereto through a peripherally located hinge. The tab portion includes a laterally-facing finger-contact surface which is radially depressible to actuate the valve. The tab portion also includes an overhang which is axially adjacent to the distal end of a valve stem extension. The valve stem extension has an upward-facing bearing surface which is contacted by a downward-facing wedging surface on the overhang of the tab portion. The wedging surface is engageable with the bearing surface at a position radially opposite the position of the hinge such that radial depression of the finger-contact surface provides a wedging action on the extension causing it to tilt toward the hinge position.

  • Patent number: 4254899
Abstract: A self-aligning overcap and button for aerosol containers including a button having a side surface terminating upwardly in a cylindrical wall surrounding a recessed upper surface which includes two helical ramps extending in opposite directions from a well adjacent to the wall to meet in a substantially radial edge diametrically opposite the well, and an overcap for engagement with the button, the overcap having a pointed alignment pin extending from the underside of an actuator tab and in position for engagement with the ramps and dimensioned for free insertion into the well in the button. Rotational alignment of the overcap and the button are accomplished under the force of gravity. In preferred embodiments the cylindrical wall of the button has an upper edge defining a plane substantially perpendicular to the axis of the button. In other preferred embodiments the actuator tab includes a cylindrical guide-sleeve dimensioned to receive the button.
