    Abstract: A constrast medium for ultrasonic examinations, in particular for echocardiography, based on a suspension of gas bubbles in a pharmacologically acceptable, aqueous liquid vehicle having a physiological electrolyte content, containing(A) a pharmacologically acceptable polypeptide and/or polysaccharide and/or a derivative thereof,(B) a pharmacologically acceptable vegetable oil and(C) a pharmacologically acceptable soluble iron(III) salt, and a process for its preparation. This contrast medium is able to penetrate the pulmonary capillaries and thus makes possible, after intravenous injection, inter alia echocardiographic examination of the left ventricle.
