  • Patent number: 10486272
Abstract: Methods of forming or repairing a tip rail of a turbine are disclosed. One method may include repairing the tip rail, or adding material to form the tip rail, by laser irradiating a wire material with a laser in an inert gas in a vicinity of a tip plate. The laser irradiating the wire material includes modulated pulsing the laser through: a warm up phase during which an on-power of the laser is increased over time to a maximum target on-power, a melt and bond phase during which the wire material is melted and during which the on-power is less than the maximum target on-power, and a stress releasing phase during which the on-power of the laser is less than the on-power during the melt and bond phase. Exterior surface coatings and/or TBC may be sprayed onto the tip rail to protect it.

  • Patent number: 6105497
Abstract: A hand-held manually operated labeling apparatus with a housing containing a support for a roll of labels, an interchangeable printing mechanism of either the band-type or slug-type, a label advancing mechanism and a label dispensing mechanism. The two types of printing mechanisms are constructed and arranged so that the print indicia of either mechanism to print a label will be disposed in the same position when they impact a label to be printed as the apparatus is manually actuated. A single housing for the two printing mechanisms supports the various parts for either printing mechanism type. A pivotable front plate in the labeling apparatus housing permits access to slug plates on the slug-type printing mechanism for changing them while that mechanism is mounted in the labeling apparatus.

  • Patent number: 5013390
Abstract: The invention relates to a hand-held labeling device (10) having a housing (11) and an operating lever (14) which is arranged for swinging about a first axis (13) and which in the rest position is swung away from a second handle (12) fixed to the housing, further a transport mechanism (34 to 36) for a label tape (31) which is operated during the swinging-out movement of the operating lever (14), the label tape being pulled off a supply roller (32) and run to the transport mechanism (34 to 36) over a guiding edge (33), a tape brake arranged between the supply roller (32) and the guiding edge (33) for fixing and releasing the label tape (31) in the longitudinal direction, the tape brake being provided with a brake lever (27) arranged to swing about a second axis, against the force of a first return spring (45) which, in the rest position of the movable handle (14), acts to press the label tape (31) against a guide plate (30), by the end (29) of the one arm of the brake lever (27), while the other arm of its lev

  • Patent number: 4947747
Abstract: A hand-held labeling device includes a two-line tape-printing mechanism, which can be actuated by means of a movable handle and which can be transferred by a swinging movement of the handle from a rest position to a printing position where characters of the printing mechanism hit against labels arranged above a printing plate so as to print such characters on the labels. A rocking lever fixed to the housing and pivoting about an axis arranged in the front portion of the housing and carrying an inking attachment which during, is guided to ensure that at least one ink roller slides tangentially across the characters before the latter hit upon the labels. Adjoining side walls of the housing, and projecting into the interior of the housing, are fixed in a front plate of the housing of the device.

  • Patent number: 4947567
Abstract: A label tape having self-adhesive labels sticking on a carrier strip, with said labels being separated from each other by cuts running mainly transverse to the longitudinal axis of the label tape and being subdivided each into sections by at least two cutting lines in form of periodic curves running in longitudinal direction to the label tape. The height of the labels is greater than and aliquant to the periodic length of the cutting lines, the form of the cutting lines is chosen such that parts of the cutting lines confine an angle of not more than 90.degree. and the curves of the cutting lines of the label tape are staggered in a longitudinal direction. The height of the label measured in longitudinal direction of the label tape differs from the periodic length of the cutting lines and of a morefold thereof, and the periodic length of the cutting lines is lower than the height of a label. Thus, security against forgery by the invention is improved.

  • Patent number: 4369085
Abstract: The present invention relates to a hand-held labelling device for printing, detaching and dispensing individual adhesive labels mounted on a backing strip and for applying such labels to articles to be labelled, the label tape being guided from a reel of label tape via a counterplate to a deflecting edge and from the latter to transport means arranged in the area below the reel of label tape and comprising a transport wheel with backstop which positively engages the backing strip and which can be moved on step by step by means of an operating handle to transport the said strip, the deflecting edge being provided between the counterplate and the forward end opposite the operating handle and mounted together with the counterplate on a swing-out bottom mounted to pivot about a stationary pin provided in the rear bottom portion, the said device comprising further a pressure roller provided in front of the deflecting edge in the forward portion of the device opposite the said pin.

  • Patent number: 4008119
Abstract: A hand-operated device for applying adhesive labels to an object to be labelled. The labels are carried on a backing strip which is moved intermittently around a deflecting edge such that a label is removed from the backing strip at each feed step. A pressure member serves to apply the label so removed to the object to be labelled and the pressure member and deflecting edge are mounted for movement about a fixed pivot during the feed. A pusher member mounted for movement about a fixed pivot transports the label from the deflecting edge to the pressure member while bearing against the adhesive face of the label.
