  • Patent number: 5911547
Abstract: A spindle centered on an axis and formed with an axially forwardly open recess centered on the axis is secured to a tool holder formed with a tubular extension projecting axially rearward and fitted complementarily in the recess by a mount having an actuating rod axially displaceable in the spindle and having a head in the recess formed with an inner frustoconical surface directed rearward toward the collar and an outer annular surface generally perpendicular to the axis and also directed rearward toward the collar. A retaining element on the rod in the tubular extension has a plurality of segments forming a frustoconical inner front face directed forward toward the head, an outer annular face generally perpendicular to the axis and also directed forward toward the head, and a rear face directed axially rearward.

  • Patent number: 5851091
Abstract: A tool mount for a tool holder having a tubular collar with an inwardly projecting rim has a shaft centered on an axis and formed with an axially centered main bore having an outer end formed as a seat complementarily engageable around the collar and a transverse bore crossing the main bore. An actuating bolt in the main bore has a head engaged in the collar in the seat and is formed with a transverse bore aligned with the shaft transverse bore. A retaining element is engageable between the bolt head and the holder rim and the bolt is axially displaceable between an inner position pressing the retaining element radially outward into locking engagement with the holder rim and an outer position with the retaining element retracted radially inward out of locking engagement with the holder rim. An ejector sleeve axially displaceable on the bolt in the bore is axially outwardly engageable with the holder collar in the seat.

  • Patent number: 5827021
Abstract: A driven part of a tool is secured to a drive part of a drive spindle rotatable about an axis by a mount having a tubular extension projecting axially forward from one of the parts and formed centered on the axis with a radially inwardly projecting collar and a recess on the other part complementarily engageable axially over the tubular extension. A retaining element in the tubular extension has a plurality of dogs deflectable radially between an outer blocking position axially behind the collar and an inner position radially rearward of the collar. An actuating member in the retaining element in the tubular extension has a camming edge engageable forward with the dogs.

  • Patent number: 5782593
Abstract: A drive has a housing, a machining spindle rotatable in the housing about an axis and adapted to carry a machine tool, and a motor in the housing having a stator fixed in the housing and surrounding the spindle and a rotor rotatable about the axis relative to the housing and to the spindle and surrounding the spindle. A gear transmission in the housing has an input connectable to the rotor and an output connectable to the spindle for rotating the spindle about the axis. This transmission is displaceable between a low-speed position with a sun gear meshing with planet gears and a planet carrier coupled to the spindle for rotating the spindle at a rate slower than that of the rotor and a high-speed position with the sun gear out of mesh with the planet gears and directly coupled to the spindle for rotating the spindle jointly with the rotor.

  • Patent number: 4784044
Abstract: The present device is intended to lock a member, such as a tool, substantially without play into a form-locked position which can be released only by a fluid pressure intentionally applied to the device. The construction is such that small clamping strokes or displacements can be performed and so that the form-locking or arresting force is maintained as long as desired and with safety. For this purpose a pull rod having, for example, a ring channel, is insertable into a socket type of receiver equipped with radially movable locking elements which cooperate with their own slanted surfaces with slanted surfaces of the pull rod and with slanted surfaces of a ring piston. Certain cooperating surfaces have a slant angle which is smaller than a self-locking angle. The release is possible only if the ring piston is exposed to a fluid under pressure.
