  • Patent number: 6636724
Abstract: In a method for indoor operation of a wireless telecommunication device that comprises at least one base station and at least one mobile part, the momentary reception power is measured in the receiver of the mobile part and the reception power value is communicated to the base station for the control of the transmission power. The ratio of reception power to noise power is determined at predetermined time intervals in the receiver of the mobile part. The respectively obtained ratio value is compared to a rated value and, dependent on the result, one signalling bit per data frame is transmitted from the mobile part to the base station. A calculation of the current or updated transmission power with adaptive incrementation control is then undertaken in the base station.

  • Patent number: 6535731
Abstract: For the expansion of a cordless telecommunications system, in particular a DECT cordless telecommunications system, with respect to great transmission ranges in cordless telecommunications there is provided in a cordless telecommunications system (PIZSL-TKS) a relay station (RS) which is assigned at least one cordless mobile station (PIZ-MS). In the case of cordless telecommunications, the relay station (RS) replaces a cordless base station (PIZ-BS) and, in the case of the expanded cordless telecommunications, it is designed as a cordless mobile station (MIZ-MS, MAZ-MS, HYZ-MS).

  • Patent number: 6252860
Abstract: Method and system for improving the degree of utilization of telecommunication channels in locally concentrated asynchronous wireless telecommunication systems wherein, in each telecommunication system, for a first telecommunication connection to be set up according to a hybrid multiple access method containing the FDMA principle, including a possibly provided “dummy bearer” telecommunication connection, a free, not-yet-occupied FDMA frequency is occupied with priority, and each further telecommunication connection following the first telecommunication connection, including a handover telecommunication connection, is set up with priority on the same FDMA frequency.

  • Patent number: 6219563
Abstract: The radio area to be covered by the stationary radio transmission/reception device, for example of the base station of a cordless telephone, is illuminated by two or more directional antennas (3, 4) respectively covering a radio sub-area thereof, whereby that respective directional antenna in whose radio sub-area the mobile radio transmission/reception means, i.e., for example, the mobile part of the cordless telephone, is located is activated (antenna diversity). The method and apparatus can be advantageously utilized in cordless telephones.

  • Patent number: 5991613
Abstract: The method and arrangement is for controlling a radio receiver. The arrangement has a central processor (DECT-C), a device (RSSI-C) for measuring the field strength of received signals, a threshold value generator (TH-C) and two antennas (A1, A2). The central processor (DECT-C) carries out method steps configured in such a way that different procedures (P1, P2) are realized to activate one of a plurality of antennas (A1, A2) of the radio receiver as a function of measured field strength values (RSSI1) of received signals and as a function of overshooting or undershooting of a threshold value (TH0).

  • Patent number: 5953694
Abstract: Method for transmitting speech information (si) between a transmission apparatus (S) and a reception apparatus (E) via at least one radio channel (F), in which the transmission quality is increased by determining, in the transmission apparatus (S), speech pauses (sp) within the speech information, producing an item of control information (st) that represents the time position of the speech pauses (sp) within the speech information (si), and sending these suitably with respect to time via the radio channel (F)in addition to the speech information (si), and by evaluating the control information (st) in the terminal apparatus (E) in such a way that the speech pauses (sp) are correctly inserted with respect to time into the speech information (si). The method is particularly suited for the digital transmission of items of speech information (si) in wireless communication systems according to the DECT standard.

  • Patent number: 5627823
Abstract: A wire-free telecommunications system having a plurality of base stations and mobile elements which form a wire-free telecommunications subsystem. Each of the base stations ,and each of the mobile elements has a circuit arrangement to which is assigned a controlling program. The system has radio links at predetermined frequencies and in a plurality of time slots in time-division multiplex channels. The controlling program uses only a subset of time slots which do not follow one another directly, from a number of time slots, which are predetermined for the radio links.
