  • Patent number: 6545757
Abstract: Atomizing device for atomic absorption spectroscopy according to the Zeeman method, wherein a tubular atomizing furnace which is transversely heated via wings and with horizontally oriented furnace tube is located with its furnace wings between vertically arranged electrodes for examination of liquid specimens fed from the top and for examination of solid specimens fed from the side, and the vertically oriented atomizing furnace is located laterally between magnetic poles.

  • Patent number: 5949538
Abstract: A transversely or longitudinally heated atomizing furnace for flameless atomic absorption spectrometry. The atomizing furnace has a tube furnace segment and a specimen support disposed in the tube furnace segment. The specimen support is rigidly fixed in the tube furnace. For that purpose, the specimen support has on its underside a central peg or foot which is fixed in a complementary depression or recess formed centrally in the inner wall of the tube furnace, approximately opposite the sample insertion opening. The specimen support and the tube furnace segment are formed from electrographite. The gas-accessible surfaces of the specimen support and the tube furnace segment are coated with pyrocarbon. The two members are non-detachably connected to each other by means of the pyrocarbon coating. The specimen support extends over as large as possible a portion of the length of the tube furnace. On its upper side, the specimen support is formed with a trough that can receive up to 50 .mu.

  • Patent number: 5408316
Abstract: The invention is directed to an arrangement for electrothermal atomization and includes a furnace body having a furnace tube defining a specimen chamber and defining a longitudinal tube axis and having two lateral sides extending parallel to the axis. The furnace body has two contact pieces formed on the furnace tube at corresponding lateral sides thereof. The contact pieces define a contact axis extending perpendicularly to the tube axis. The contact pieces and the furnace tube conjointly define a single integral body made of the same material. Each of the contact pieces includes raised portions defining furnace body contact surfaces. Two ring-shaped electrodes supply current to the furnace body and each of the electrodes defines an electrode contact surface for contact engaging the contact surfaces of one of the contact pieces thereby establishing an electric contact interface to the one contact piece.

  • Patent number: 5367374
Abstract: The invention is directed to a platform for a transversely-heated electrothermal atomizer furnace which includes a furnace tube having a predetermined tube length and an inner wall surface defining an inner tube diameter. The platform includes first and second current-conducting holding rings provided in the furnace tube at first and second ends thereof, respectively, thereby narrowing the cross section of said furnace tube. The holding rings each have an outer diameter corresponding approximately to the inner tube diameter of the furnace tube and the rings taken together have a total thickness less than 40% of the tube length. A specimen carrier is fixedly connected to at least one of the holding rings and the specimen carrier and the one holding ring conjointly define an integral structural unit made of the same material.

  • Patent number: 4826318
Abstract: In an apparatus for electrothermal atomization, which can be used for flameless atomic absorption spectroscopy as well as for flameless atomic emission spectroscopy, a platform positioned in a graphite tube is divided into two functional axially adjacent. One of the regions serves as the holding part and the other serves as the sample-carrying part. The holding part is mounted in the area of one of the tube ends and the sample-carrying part protrudes unsupported into the interior of the tube.
