  • Patent number: 5624770
Abstract: A lead storage battery with a monobloc container receives plate groups in cell compartments which are adjustable in width using a series of side wall ribs. Each rib includes a cell connector formed on the container wall, which is in turn provided with support portions which extend into the container compartment to define a roughly T-shaped cross-section. Each rib is further joined to the bottom of the container along its cross-section. Since the support portions are aligned with, or substantially aligned with the container wall, a large-surface support is provided for receiving a plate group, preventing the potential for wearing into the outermost electrodes of the plate group during vibrational stress, and the failure of the mass which can then result.

  • Patent number: 4727620
Abstract: A carrying device for a storage battery is disclosed. In one embodiment, the carrying device comprises two retractable handles attached to the storage battery and guidance members associated with said handles for guiding the movement of the handles. Each of the handles has a crosspiece and arms extending along the sides of the storage battery. The arms contain elongated slits which receive the guidance members and thereby ensure accurate guidance of the handles.

  • Patent number: 4642600
Abstract: The temperature rise associated with the catalytic recombination of battery gases at the end of the charging process is converted into an electrical signal suitable for checking and controlling charging, in a temperature-sensitive component such as a commercially available NTC or PTC resistor coated with a PTFE-bound palladium-activated carbon mixture. An additional activated carbon layer protects the catalyst from poisoning by the stibine present in the battery gases.

  • Patent number: 4522899
Abstract: A hermetic pole seal for lead storage batteries which averts the customary use of lead sleeves, involves a first ring-shaped molding surrounding the pole shaft with a rubber-elastic synthetic plastic (thermoplastic rubber) and a second molding covering the former with a less elastic synthetic, which is preferably identical to the case material (e.g. polypropylene), followed by mirror welding to the lid. The sealing of the pole lead-through results from material shrinkage following the molding. In so doing, the different plastics mesh from opposite sides.
