  • Patent number: 5196688
Abstract: A system for recognizing and tracking a target with the use of an observation device which is directed toward the target and which follows the target with the aid of a setting drive connected in series with a computer. The observation device furnishes a signal representative of the structure of the target to the computer for computation of the genuine correlation between a stored target structure signal B(x) which corresponds to the previously received image of the scene under observation, and the shifted target structure signal B' (x-.xi.) which corresponds to the momentary image of the scene under observation, the genuine target deviation being expressed by the position of the maximum of the cross-correlation functionK (.xi.)=.intg.B (x) B' (x-.xi.) dxThe computer continuously determines the deviation of the target in the x direction and in the y direction from the center of the scene image and emits setting signals, which correspond to the deviation, to the setting drive.

  • Patent number: 5092149
Abstract: A luggage latch has a housing mounted on a piece of luggage and a latch body or slide displaceable in the housing between a latched and unlatched position and engageable only in the latched position with a latch component on the luggage lid to retain the latch component. A slide button fixed to the latch body is longitudinally displaceable on the housing between a forward position corresponding to the latched position and a back position corresponding to the unlatched position. A plurality of number wheels rotatable on the housing are associated with respective rotatable members and formations can engage between the members and the latch body to prevent movement of the latch body into the unlatched position except when the wheels are in a predetermined angular position.

  • Patent number: 4397818
Abstract: Cracking tubes are closed at one end and externally heated contain catalyst bodies for the catalytic cracking of process gases and also contain a central inner tube for introduction or return of the gases. Molded catalyst bodies of two different shapes are arranged in the space between the two tubes such that the two shaped bodies alternate. The molded bodies of one shape are centered at the inner tube and leave an annular space between themselves and the outer tube. The molded bodies of the other shape are constructed so as to start at the outer tube and leave an annular space between themselves and the inner tube. Thus, the process gases passing between the two tubes in contact with the catalyst bodies flows in meander fashion from the outer to the inner tube and then to the outer tube. One or both of the two molded bodies have several radial ribs for axial spacing.

  • Patent number: 4220296
Abstract: A method for guiding the final phase of a ballistic missile wherein the target and the missile are continuously tracked to determine their positions with respect to the missile firing platform; the actual coordinates of the missile position, which are continuously being furnished by the tracking system, are constantly compared with nominal coordinates determined by a fire control computer and the deviation is computed therefrom; a correction signal, as to magnitude and direction of the path of the missile is generated from the deviation and is transmitted to the missile as a wireless, coded signal; and this correction signal, together with measurements for the dynamic flight characteristics are translated in the missile into a triggering pulse to actuate a path correction for the missile.
