  • Publication number: 20090040071
Abstract: The invention is directed to a method for determining an optimal runway lighting intensity based on the determination of an optimal lighting intensity for a configurable target value of the runway visual range taking into account the runway-specific parameters of the lighting system, the meteorological optical range, and the background brightness. It is the object of the invention to provide a method by which it is possible to significantly reduce the energy consumption of a runway lighting system by specific control of the energy supply from economic and ecological view points and by fully taking into account all safety-related aspects.

  • Patent number: 5610713
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an optical range measurement device which is able to compensate for lens contamination. The optical range measurement device includes one or more windows having at least two sections positioned at an angle to one another, a transmitter for producing a main beam and transmitting the main beam into the atmosphere, and a receiver for receiving the main beam back scattered by the atmosphere. The device also includes a transmitter producing a reference beam which illuminates the at least two sections and a receiver for receiving the reference beam.

  • Patent number: 4569197
Abstract: Energy is produced from solid fossil fuel high in inerts by burning a fuel under atmospheric pressure with production of smoke gas so that heat is released during the burning and stored in the smoke gas. Thereupon the burning of the fuel, water steam is generated from the heat released and stored in the smoke gas, which steam is used for operation of a steam turbine. The smoke gases are cleaned from noxious materials, compressed and desulfurized. The obtained cleaned gas is provided to cool the smoke gas discharged after burning and to operate a gas turbine. The expanded gas is then used to preheat air which is used for burning the fuel.

  • Patent number: 4425757
Abstract: An installation for recovering energy from solid fossil fuels more particularly bituminous coal high in inerts consists of at least one unit in which the solid fuels are converted into gas. A gas-turbine and a steam-turbine are provided to recover the energy from the gases. The gases are freed of dust and desulfurized before the gas turbine. The installation is characterized in that a wet-bottom boiler using the ground fuel is provided with pressure firing, the flue gases therefrom being passed to a gas-gas heat exchanger, the desulfurizing unit and dust-removing unit before being utilized in the gas-turbine.

  • Patent number: 4342192
Abstract: A plant for producing power from solid fossil fuels, more particularly bituminous coal, is made up of at least one boiler in which the solid fuels are burned. The plant furthermore has a steam turbine and a gas turbine for producing power from the gas, the gases being cleaned of dust and sulfur before running into the gas turbine. The boiler of the plant is a pressure-fired boiler in which firing takes place in the dry condition, that is without melting of ash.
