  • Patent number: 7445885
Abstract: A process is described for analyzing enzyme-catalyzed conversions of nonpolymeric substrates to nonpolymeric products with the aid of MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry, preferably in the presence of an internal standard on a specific carrier material.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 6, 2001
Date of Patent: November 4, 2008
    Assignee: BASF Aktiengesellschaft
Inventors: Elmar Heinzle, Min-Jung Kang, Andreas Tholey, Klaus Hollemeyer, Bernhard Hauer
  • Publication number: 20040142383
Abstract: A method for determining genus, species, race and/or geographical origin of biological materials, by directly cleaving with enzymatic methods the fibrillary structures such as feathers, down, hair or horn to form a pool of cleaved peptides, without prior dissolution of structure proteins; and wherein the pool of cleaved peptides obtained from fibillary structure proteins is preferably subjected to MALDI-TOF mass spectroscopy without the application of separating and isolating techniques, and wherein the mass spectrograms obtained are adjusted using reference mass spectrograms and the suitable specific mass peaks are used to quantify elements such as feathers, down, scales horn and/or hair which are foreign to the species.
    Type: Application
    Filed: November 14, 2003
    Publication date: July 22, 2004
Inventors: Wolfgang Altmeyer, Klaus Hollemeyer, Elmar Heinzle, Heiko Ewen
