A safety device is provided for aiding in opening of the sliding door after an accident-caused deformation of the vehicle body. In order to achieve an good functioning of the safety device, it is constructed in such a fashion that, after a deformation affecting the side wall, a movement of the running device in the guide rail can be implemented for opening the sliding door.

    Abstract: An actuating device for a motor vehicle top and a top receptacle cover comprises an actuating lever and a displacement device. By way of the actuating lever which can be pivoted from the driver's seat, the top receptacle cover can be moved between a closed position and an open position and the top between a second operating position and a third operating position. To further improve such an actuating device so that with a simple construction it functions well, avoids errors in manipulation and is easily manipulated, the actuating lever is pivoted in a first direction such that the top receptacle cover is moved from a closed position into an opened position. Consequently, a first coupling element, which is in operative connection with the displacement device, takes up a receiving position in which a second coupling element provided on the top can engage the first coupling element when the top is in the second operating position.
