  • Patent number: 6562162
Abstract: A method and apparatus for manufacturing shaped bodies made of fibers, particles containing cellulose and/or particles containing lignocellulose which are admixed with a binder and scattered to form a mat. The mat is preheated by supplying thermal energy from an interior of the mat outwardly to a surface of the mat and then pressing the mat into the shaped body.

  • Patent number: 6479056
Abstract: A salmonella live vaccine produced from at least one attenuated immunologic live vaccine strain, characterized in that the vaccine strain has an envelope marker which results in an increased sensitivity of the vaccine strain toward a specific therapeutically effective antibiotic and has at least one chromosomal antibiotic resistance mutation for the attenuation.

  • Patent number: 5802744
Abstract: An apparatus for reconstructing railway track systems while simultaneously clearing away the bed of the old track system. A sliding seal driver is used to secure the trench formed by the removal of the old track foundation as the old track is cleared away. A new trench is cut as the apparatus proceeds on the same path as the old track. The seal driver includes lateral shields securing the trench walls as well as ground shields resting on the bottom of the trench. The lateral shields are of such lengths to secure the trench walls over the entire work area.

  • Patent number: 5792452
Abstract: A live Salmonella vaccine having an increased stability is disclosed. Further, immunization methods of a host such as chickens against Salmonella diseases are carried out by the use of the vaccine. The vaccine may be administered orally or parenterally and includes one or more of the live vaccines disclosed herein. The live vaccine is produced from one or more live vaccine strains with metabolic drift attenuation via an increased generation time. The vaccine is an immunogenic, stable and single or multiple marker live vaccine strain with or without envelope mutation; and the live vaccine is a suppressor mutant of an original live vaccine strain still having the attenuation marker(s) of the original live vaccine strain but a shortened generation time and having macrolide tolerance.

  • Patent number: 4778220
Abstract: Tunnel driving apparatus includes a full-face cutting machine 2 mounted, preferably vertically and laterally pivotably, in a drive shield 1. The cutting machine is displaceable, by means of feed rams 16, towards a working face. The cylinders 19 of the feed rams are secured to the machine body 3 of the full-face cutting machine, and act as guide shoes for slidably supporting the cutting machine on guide rails 6 fixed to the drive shield.

  • Patent number: 4451176
Abstract: Apparatus for, and a method of, driving a tunnel utilizes a drive shield to support the forward end of the tunnel where debris material is removed. At the rear end of the drive shield, a lining is created to cover the exposed tunnel wall. This lining is produced by simply spraying concrete rearwardly directly between the space between multi-part formwork and the tunnel wall itself. The formwork may overlap with the drive shield. The formwork is advanced to follow the progress of the drive shield by removing part of the formwork from the rear and re-siting this part at the front end.

  • Patent number: 4355924
Abstract: Apparatus for use in driving tunnels or the like has a main shield composed of elongate drive members supported and guided on a rigid frame as known per se. Rams serve to advance the drive members and the frame in alternative to effect the driving operation. A rear shield or cover is located behind the main shield. This rear shield is composed of elongate rear extension members connected with some of the drive members over the roof and part of the side walls of the tunnel. Supports fixed to the rear of the frame of the main shield engage beneath the lowermost rear extension members to support the rear shield. The supports, disposed symmetrically at either side of the axis of the tunnel, have brackets engaging with the lowermost rear extension members and these brackets can be displaced by piston and cylinder units to raise or lower the entire rear shield.

  • Patent number: 4122683
Abstract: A tunnel drive shield is provided with a plurality of bracing units spaced around its periphery. The bracing units are expansible against the surrounding tunnel wall to control the direction of shield advance. A bracing unit is provided in each of the four shield quadrants defined by the vertical and horizontal center planes of the shield. Each of the bracing units is expansible in a non-radial direction.
