  • Publication number: 20060213747
Abstract: A coupling assembly (11) having an axial setting device (21) in the form of a ball ramp assembly with an axially supported supporting disc (23) and an axially displaceable pressure disc (24) with ball grooves (25, 26) and balls (27). The supporting disc (23) and the pressure disc (24) are rotatable relative to one another by a motor, wherein the pressure disc (24) acts on a first pressure plate (42). The coupling assembly (11) is loaded by a second pressure plate (36), and a disc spring (43) is arranged between the first pressure plate (42) and the second pressure plate (46). The disc spring (43) which, at its outer circumference, is axially secured in the coupling carrier (12), acts on the second pressure plate (46) by an intermediate diameter and, at its inner edge, rests against the first pressure plate.

  • Patent number: 6851534
Abstract: An axial setting device comprising two plates (24, 29) which are relatively rotatable and coaxially supported relative to one another and between which balls are guided in pairs of ball grooves (34, 39) in the plates (24, 29), with the depth of said pairs of ball grooves (34, 39) being circumferentially variable; of the plates (24, 29), one is axially supported and one is axially displaceable against the elastic returning forces of spring means; at least one of the plates (24, 29) is drivable via a driveline by a driving motor (11). Within the driveline, between the driving motor (11) and the drivable plates (24, 29), there is inserted a switching coupling (83).

  • Patent number: 6758782
Abstract: An actuating mechanism for axial setting purposes, comprising three discs which are supported co-axially relative to an axis and of which a central disc is rotatable relative to the two outer discs, between the central disc and each of the outer discs, there are arranged sets of balls, the balls each run in pairs of circumferential grooves in the faces of the central disc and of one of the outer discs facing one another, the circumferential grooves comprise a circumferentially variable depth whose extension is such that, over the entire relative angle of rotation, the first outer disc moves axially from a first end position via a central position into a second end position which deviates from said first end position, and the second outer disc moves axially from a first end position via a second end position deviating therefrom back into the first end position.

  • Patent number: 6431337
Abstract: A coupling for controllably transmitting torque, having a first coupling member and a second coupling member—especially a shaft and a coupling housing—which are supported so as to be rotatable relative to one another; the coupling comprises a friction coupling and a viscous coupling switched in parallel; the friction coupling comprises two sets of friction plates and the viscous coupling comprises two VC plate carriers; the sets of friction plates of the friction coupling are each connected in a rotationally fast way to the first and the second coupling member and axially loadable by an adjusting device, and a first VC plate carrier of the viscous coupling is permanently connected in a rotationally fast way to the first one of the coupling members, and a second VC plate carrier of the viscous coupling is disconnectably connected to the second coupling member, with an axial adjusting device connecting and disconnecting the second VC plate carrier of the viscous coupling in a friction locking way an
