Abstract: A help system, an automation device with such a help system and a method for providing help data are disclosed. It makes it possible to exchange description data, in particular application-oriented engineering data, between sub-projects in an efficient and reliable manner. The storage and subsequent exchange of relevant description data relating to objects, such that all the information required for communication between sub-projects is available, are ensured by means of the system and the method. The description data is stored on a shared basis in so-called inter-projcet interfaces( IPI).
