  • Patent number: 4792382
Abstract: The invention concerns a process for removing dust from coke cooled by a dry method after the coke has left the cooling zone of a cooling chamber, and a device for carrying out the process. A dust-free flushing gas is injected below the cooling zone, preferably parallel to the direction in which the coke moves when it has been cooled to below 200.degree. C., to draw the gas off above the discharge lock together with the stirred-up coke dust, and to recirculate the gas after the dust is removed from it. As an alternative, compressed air is blown through the coke after it has left the lock and while it is being transported through a vibrating machine. The coke is cooled in a dry cooling unit to below 200.degree. C. and preferably 130.degree. to 180.degree. C. The coke is then cooled outside the dry cooling unit by means of air at about 50.degree. to 90.degree. C. and preferably 70.degree. to 80.degree. C.

  • Patent number: 4344823
Abstract: A discharger is disclosed for a dry coke cooling chamber which utilizes a breeches chute having a plurality of outlets. The breeches chute is supplied with coke by a continuously operable conveyor which conveys coke from an outlet of the cooling chamber to an inlet of the breeches chute. A tilting table or other apparatus is provided in the breeches chute to selectively discharge the coke to one of the breeches chute outlets. A lock bin is provided at each of the outlets to receive coke and, at the same time to isolate the cooling chamber in a gastight fashion from the atmosphere.

  • Patent number: 4240910
Abstract: A method for clarifying coke quenching water or other waters which are contaminated by solids, with a wide grain spectrum, in an operation in which the fine portions of the solids suspended and carried along with the water are removed from the water by filtration and the clarified water is returned in a cycle, comprising, depositing the water into a filter shaft so that the substances removed from the contaminated water build up in the shaft and themselves form a filter bed, continuing to pass the water through the filter bed from the top to the bottom in a manner so that the velocity of flow of the water in the filter bed decreases constantly and so as to preclarify the water which passes through the bed and subsequently refiltering the preclarified water in a trough basin which rises from the bottom to the top. Thereafter, the refiltered water is directed into a discharge channel from the trough basin which overflows above the basin.
