Patent number: 6826008Abstract: A system for transferring a cartridge includes at least two opposing bars, each bar adapted to slide in a longitudinal direction between an open position and a closed position; and at least two grippers, each gripper attached to an end of one of the bars and adapted to engage a cartridge when the bars are in the closed position. Each of the bars is further from a center point when in the open position than in the closed position. The bars and the grippers are adapted to move in a transverse direction in order to transfer the cartridge in the transverse direction.Type: GrantFiled: November 8, 2001Date of Patent: November 30, 2004Assignee: Patentia Hergiswil AGInventor: Klaus Paulat

Patent number: 6607194Abstract: An arrangement to hold a top sheet of a stack of sheets that are ejected by an office machine and deposited on the stack is disclosed. The arrangement comprises a holding element and a lifting device adapted to vertically move the holding element. A tension spring is adapted to be tensioned when the holding element is placed on the stack, thereby generating a placement force. The lifting device may comprise an upper part where the holding element is arranged and a lower part. The lower part is vertically driven, and the upper part and the lower part being connected by the tension spring. The holding element may be a holding flap that is pivotally positioned at the lifting device and is adapted to pivot between a swung out position that projects over a stack of sheets and a swung in position into the lifting device. A joint drive may effect the lifting movement of the lifting device and the swinging movement of the holding flap, the holding flap being driven by a sliding clutch.Type: GrantFiled: February 26, 2002Date of Patent: August 19, 2003Assignee: BDT Buro-Und Datentechnik GmbH & Co., KGInventors: Siegfried Moeller, Klaus Paulat

Patent number: 6244591Abstract: A shunt is described for reversing the direction of conveyance of a document or the like. The document is accepted by a front-end roller and supplied to a reversing roller. As soon as the trailing rear edge of the document has left the front-end roller, the direction of rotation of the reversing roller is reversed and this guides the document, with the rear edge leading, to an output roller which is disposed offset in height relative to the front-end roller and outputs the document in the opposite direction.Type: GrantFiled: September 24, 1999Date of Patent: June 12, 2001Assignee: BDT Buro-und Datentechnik GmbH & Co. Patent number: 6146336Abstract: In order to detect the intra-cranial pressure in the skull of a test subject it is proposed to attach to the skull at least two electrodes in such a way that they have an electrical contact with the skull. Via a measuring device, the time curve of an electrical resistance and/or of a capacitance between the two electrodes is obtained as an electrical signal (p(t)). An extreme value of the electrical signal, following a blood pressure maximum according to a systole with a substantially uniform delay, is determined as a first amplitude value. A second amplitude value is obtained from the electrical signal (p(t)). This value is accepted at a point where the electrical signal has for the first time after the first amplitude value either a maximum or a turning point. A third amplitude value is obtained from the electrical signal after the second amplitude value. A standardized pressure measurement value is obtained from the amplitude values for further utilization.Type: GrantFiled: January 19, 1999Date of Patent: November 14, 2000Assignee: Nicolet Biomedical Inc.Inventor: Klaus Paulat

Patent number: 5743017Abstract: A device for heating of the blades of scissors, knives and the like, with heating module comprising an electrical heating strip provided on the metallic blades, connecting conductors for providing current to the heating strip, and a cowling of a synthetic material. The heating module is capable of being fastened on the outer surface of the blade. The heating strip is in thermal conductive contact with the outer surface of the blade, extends over the length of the cutting edge of the blade, and is on its outer surface covered with a cowling of a synthetic material.Type: GrantFiled: April 5, 1996Date of Patent: April 28, 1998Assignee: Theracut-Hair-Technik GmbHInventors: Walter Dreher, Hans Kessing, Klaus Paulat

Patent number: 5231552Abstract: A cartridge loader with a removable magazine that has slots for data storage cartridges. The loader has a tilting bin-like receiver in an opening in its front panel for receiving the magazine. The magazine includes a push-push mechanism associated with each of its cartridge storage cells. The magazine has a handle and a surface, preferably a thumb rail near the front, offset from the handle and placed in an area proximal to a usual resting position of a digit of a user, allowing the user to alter the magazine's attitude. The magazine includes a guide channel that interacts with a rib on the receiver to guide the magazine in the receiver. The magazine may have a center of gravity aligned with the handle, to cause the magazine to hang at a tilted attitude corresponding to the tilt angle of the receiver.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 1990Date of Patent: July 27, 1993Assignee: Digital Equipment CorporationInventors: Gunther Schneider, Klaus Paulat

Patent number: 4648590Abstract: A transport device for paper sheets incorporates driven rollers which frictionally engage the paper sheets and are mounted on shafts arranged parallel with one another in the transport direction. Filaments extending in the transport direction are utilized to bias the paper sheets from below against the rollers. The filaments permit the paper sheets to glide or slide thereover and extend between the rollers in a lower tangential plane, said filaments being mounted elastically at one extremity thereof. A slight inclination of the shafts of the rollers causes the paper sheets to be transported while engaging a lateral guiding edge to accomplish transportation of said sheet in an accurately aligned manner.Type: GrantFiled: April 4, 1984Date of Patent: March 10, 1987Assignee: Helmut SteinhilberInventor: Klaus Paulat
