  • Patent number: 5299088
Abstract: The invention relates to a protective circuit for the protection of the user from overvoltage and overcurrent, in particular for telecommunication installations. Prior art protective circuits comprise a fuse connected into the line connection, and a surge arrester with a heat-sensitive protection device, forming a cross path between the current path of the line connection and the earth conductor, the heat-sensitive protection device disconnecting the cross path in case of excessive power, and connecting it to the earth conductor. In the protective circuit according to the invention, a response of the heat-sensitive protection device (5, 6) will cause disconnection of the cross path of the surge arrester (1, 2) and closing of a short-circuit cross path (7, 8) behind the fuse (3, 4) between the line connection (a, a'; b, b') and the earth conductor (E). The protective circuit can be accommodated in a miniature plug for application in telecommunication installations.

  • Patent number: 5157580
Abstract: The invention relates to a protective plug (1) for connector banks (20) of telecommunication and data systems, comprising a housing (2) for receiving protective elements (7, 8, 9) connected to establish an electrical connection to an earth rail (44) and with a disconnector contact (43) to a bifurcated contact (41) or to circuit tracks (10) provided on a plug tongue, resp. The disconnector contact (43) is provided with terminal contacts (53) for incoming and outgoing cable conductors. In order to provide a protective plug (1) which protects against overvoltages and serves as well as a fuse against overcurrents and for which the outside dimensions allow a close-fit construction of several protective plugs (1), the plug tongue (5) is a printed-circuit board (4, 4a) extending into the housing (2). Two housing compartments (21, 22) are formed inside the housing (2).

  • Patent number: 4682838
Abstract: A multipolar plug has a two-piece plastic housing which partially confines one or more one-piece synthetic plastic inserts each of which has a centrally located retaining section removably engaging the housing and a two-part second section. One part of the second section is confined in the housing, and the other part constitutes one or more prongs which can enter a receptacle to engage their contact members with complementary contact members in the receptacle. Each second section carries two or four discrete strip-shaped contact members which are blanked from sheet metal and have central portions fully embedded in the respective retaining section. Each contact member further includes a second portion which is partially embedded in the first part of the respective second section, and a third portion which is partially embedded in the second part of the respective second section. The contact members are disposed, either singly or in pairs, at the opposite sides of the respective second section.

  • Patent number: 4533196
Abstract: A device comprising a plurality of terminal elements (1) for making a solderless, non-screwed and unstripped connection of one or several wires to each terminal element (1). The terminal elements (1) are constructed either as double-contacts (1a) or as multiple contacts (1b) having transverse webs (3, 4, 5, 6). Each of the webs comprises a contact slot (2) and is oriented at an angle of about 45 degrees to the wire axis and, is disposed in parallel to each other.

  • Patent number: 4420200
Abstract: The invention relates to a surge-protected cable joint for telecommunication networks, comprising a joint casing closed at either end and having axial cable inlets, and terminal strips for the cable wires secured in the casing interior. In order to permit connection of an increased number of cable wires without increasing the external dimensions while at the same time obtaining a higher resistance to surge currents, the individual terminal strips are disposed within the joint interior in a plurality of double rows arranged in series and each row is fixedly mounted within a trough, thus resulting in a wiring free from crossover points and in an increased number of connections. The receiving troughs (2, 2a) are bolted together in pairs with their bottoms adjacent each other, and are secured to lateral connecting rails (4).

  • Patent number: 4412374
Abstract: The subject-matter of the invention is a device for electrically clamping or connecting a cable wire in the longitudinal slot of an upright terminal element, the laterally deflectable legs and lugs of which are not supported at their sides, e.g. by a plastic material. The device comprises a plunger (1) adapted to be longitudinally movable within a housing against the action of a coil spring (4) and carrying at its forward end a pressure member (1a). Said pressure member (1a) is disposed to be movable within a sleeve (3) fixed to the housing and has a shape matching the cross-sectional configuration of the terminal element. The projecting sleeve surrounds the outer faces of the components of the terminal element and supports the same laterally during the clamping operation. Furthermore the sleeve (3) comprises a cutting edge (3a) cooperating with a cutting edge formed on the pressure member (1a).

  • Patent number: 4405187
Abstract: The invention relates to a connector assembly for cables adapted to transmit signals with pulse-code modulation. The connector assembly may be used with an increased number of twin conductors either as a simple connector strip or as a pressure sealed cable termination device in conjunction with a housing member. The assembly offers sufficient electrical shielding and is of small size. To this end the connector assembly comprises a base plate (1) mounting a plurality of metal-shielded plastic housings (20). Each of the plastic housings (20) accommodates a pair of contact pins (24,24') secured in the base plate (1) in a pressure sealed and elecrically insulated manner for a twin conductor or, respectively, an individual cable, and further accommodates solderless, screwless and stripless PLUS-contact elements (13, 14, 15) electrically connected to the contact pins.
