  • Patent number: 9433417
Abstract: A device and method are provided for clips or staples as an effective substitute for suture material when joining body tissue or covering body tissue with a mesh, such as is particularly used in fracture operations. The device for applying a medical lockable clip (1) in a tissue area, includes a) an automatic advancing mechanism oriented in the direction of the tissue area from a starting position and having a guide in the advancing direction for the clip, wherein the clip has two gripper teeth oriented in the advancing direction, b) a stop for the advancing mechanism, and c) a locking element displaceable with the advancing mechanism and having a locking mechanism on the clip side for locking the clip, wherein d) the locking element is displaceable together with and parallel to the advancing mechanism, and e) the stop does not limit the motion of the locking element.

  • Patent number: 7270720
Abstract: In a method of bending a rod- or rod-like unfinished workpiece of a single crystal material of a Cu alloy the workpiece is bent at an elevated temperature so as to provide for a predetermined curvature and then the workpiece is further heated whereby the curvature is established but the superelasticity is lost, the workpiece is cooled down and then tempered at another raised temperature for at least one hour and is then immediately quenched in a cooling medium.

  • Patent number: 6425896
Abstract: In an endoscopic surgical instrument for the coagulation, by high frequency energy, and for the severing of coagulated tissue areas, a coagulation pliers and a scissors structure are provided, which are mounted on the distal end of an instrument and which are operated by a handle with operating levers in such a way that, upon actuation of the handle, first the pliers is closed for grasping the tissue while the scissors are closed in a delayed fashion. After coagulation of the tissue engaged by the pliers, actuation of a second lever at the handle end of the instrument fully closes the scissors structure for cutting the tissue in the coagulation area.

  • Patent number: 6113590
Abstract: In a probe disposed at the distal end of a heart catheter for the coagulation of muscle and connective tissues by subjecting them to a high frequency field, a pressure sensor is provided for measuring the axial force effective on the probe tip which pressure sensor inlcudes a plastic body with an axial bore into which a light conductor extends and which has at its end opposite the light conductor a mirror for reflecting light supplied through the light conductor back into the light conductor. The plastic body is resiliently movably supported with respect to the light conductor so that the light reflected by the mirror back into the light conductor depends on the displacement of the probe tip caused by a pressure force applied to the probe tip.

  • Patent number: 5389103
Abstract: In a surgical stitching apparatus for endoscopically performing sutures of tissue or vessels having a drive mechanism including concentric tubes with an operating handle structure at one end and a stitching head mounted at the distal end thereof, the stitching head includes a stationary and a movable mouthpiece each with clamping structures for engaging the tips of a needle each comprising movable and stationary halves with the movable half on the stationary mouthpiece being operatively connected to one of the concentric tubes and the movable mouthpiece being connected to another of the concentric tubes which is hand-operable by a movable handle on the operating handle structure, and the one concentric tube is operable by a pedal switch-controlled mechanism mounted on the operating handle structure for foot operation of the clamping structure on the stationary mouthpiece.
