  • Patent number: 9969353
Abstract: A force-limiting device (4) for a seat belt device having at least two parts (5, 11, 15) controlled with a frequency-dependent, defined movement for energy absorption, wherein the parts (5, 11, 15) that move the parts (5, 11, 15) undergo an undulating movement (Q) directed perpendicular to the feed movement (V) in the course of which the gearings (8, 10, 18, 19) alternatingly engage and disengage. An open spring washer exerts force to move the parts (5, 11, 15) toward one another and can be automatically increased after a preset belt extraction length. The spring washer (6) applies a varying spring force to the parts (5, 11, 15) moving toward one another during the movement.

  • Patent number: 9884605
Abstract: A force-limiting device (4) for a seat belt device which has at least two parts (5, 11, 15) controlled with a frequency-dependent, defined movement, wherein the parts (5, 11,15) moving relative to one another feature gearings (8, 10, 18, 19) engaging into each other and the frequency-dependent, controlled movement occurs such that at least one of the parts (5, 11, 15) executes a feed movement (V) with respect to the other part (5, 11,15) with an undulating motion (Q) perpendicular to the feed movement (V) in which the gearings (8, 10, 18, 19) alternatingly engage and disengage, by means of which a force limited belt extraction is facilitated. Wherein means are provided with which the required force for movement of the parts (5, 11, 15) toward one another can be automatically increased after a preset belt extraction length.

  • Patent number: 9327681
Abstract: A seat belt retractor including a belt shaft rotatably supported in a frame and two force-limiting devices acting in parallel. The first and the second part of the belt shaft axially overlap forming an annular space. The second force-limiting device is a band element abutting a radial outer wall of the annular space with a first section, and on the radial inner wall with a second section and is deflected in a deflection fitting between the first and the second sections (20, 21, 29, 30). During relative movement between the first and second parts, the band element can be unwound or wound up from the outer wall onto the inner wall or vice versa in an energy-dissipating manner.

  • Patent number: 9242617
Abstract: A seat belt retractor with a speed-controlled load limiting device has a belt shaft pivot-mounted in a retractor frame, a blocking device for locking the belt shaft relative to the retractor frame) in the belt extraction direction when a predetermined value of the belt webbing extraction acceleration and/or of vehicle deceleration is exceeded, and at least two toothed elements which, upon activation of the load limiting device move relative to each other. One of the toothed elements performs an oscillatory motion, wherein both parts feature teeth, with which they alternately engage and disengage during the relative motion belt shaft has a first and a second part. The second part can be locked relative to the retractor frame, and each of the toothed elements is allocated to a different part of the belt shaft.

  • Patent number: 6851714
Abstract: A securement arrangement for a seat belt closure of a three-point seat belt system in a vehicle comprises an anchor piece secured to the vehicle, a closure body, and a generally U-shaped closure body retaining assembly for mounting the closure body on the anchor piece. A spring disposed between a pair of U-forming legs of the closure body retaining assembly biases the closure body into its home position. A contact element emits a signal to be processed by an onboard signal processing unit when the closure body, due to the application thereto of a load imposed by the seat belt, is displaced so as to overcome the biasing force of the spring. The contact element correspondingly moves out of contact and emits a signal in response to its movement out of contact.
