  • Patent number: 6497788
Abstract: Backwater cycle of and process for circulating water in a paper machine having a wet zone. The backwater cycle includes at least one application device arranged to apply a composition containing at least one of pigment and filler onto a fiber web in the wet zone, a first backwater cycle that supplies a stock inlet with backwater removed from the production process upstream, relative to a web travel direction, of the at least one application device, and a second backwater cycle that accepts a remainder of the backwater. The process includes extracting backwater from the fiber web, and feeding backwater, which is not charged with the at least one of pigments and fillers, to a stock inlet.

  • Patent number: 6423181
Abstract: A gravure paper and a method of manufacturing gravure paper having a maximal roughness depth of approximately 1.40 &mgr;m. The method utilizes a paper machine including a forming system, a first press section, and a drying section, and includes producing a stock suspension including a stock having a freeness of greater than or equal to approximately 50 ml CSF, forming an unfinished fibrous material web from the stock suspension, and applying at least one of a pigment and a filler slurry to the unfinished fibrous material web between a beginning of the forming system and a position at which the dry matter content of the unfinished fibrous material web is approximately ≦90%.

  • Patent number: 6293113
Abstract: Cooling system and process for removing at least one of excess process heat and excess machine heat from one of a paper and cardboard machine. The cooling system includes at least one closed primary cooling cycle arranged to remove excess heat, at least one closed secondary cooling cycle arranged to remove the excess heat from the at least one closed primary cooling cycle, and at least one primary heat exchanger coupled to each at least one primary cooling cycle for transferring the excess heat from the at least one closed primary cooling cycle to the at least one closed secondary cooling cycle. The cooling device also includes a tertiary cooling water path having a cooling water feed line and a cooling water return line coupled to the one of the paper and cardboard machine, and at least one secondary heat exchanger coupled to the second cooling cycle for transferring the excess heat from the at least one closed secondary cooling cycle to the tertiary cooling water path.

  • Patent number: 4014738
Abstract: Sifting drum paper machine having a sifting drum with a pulp material inlet located at the outside thereof and suction chambers disposed in the interior thereof, includes a measurement of pressure in the vicinity of a paper web-forming part on the surface of the drum, the pressure measurements being used to control the quantity of diluent water to the supply of pulp material to the pulp material inlet in response to an adjustment value fed thereto and corresponding to the measured pressure.
