  • Patent number: 6893282
Abstract: Lamp mounts for tubular fluorescent lamps with a screw base are to be configured in a more compact manner for packaging purposes. A bayonet adapter (5) which can be rotated into a lamp mount (1) is provided for this purpose. The bayonet adapter (5) has, for example, an E27-type screw base opposite the bayonet connector (9). Since the bayonet adapter (5) can be removed from the lamp mount (1), a corresponding luminaire can be packaged in a more compact manner.

  • Patent number: 6777942
Abstract: Disconnection device for an electronic operating device for gas discharge lamps. The filament breakage of a lamp is evaluated by detecting the current through a component which flows through the filaments. This is performed either by detecting this current with the aid of an optocoupler or by measuring the phase of the load circuit current.

  • Patent number: 6566822
Abstract: Disconnection device for an electronic operating device for gas discharge lamps. The DC component is evaluated at a coupling capacitor (C5) specifically via a filament. Disconnection is performed in the event of filament breakage. In addition, the AC component of the generator output (O) can be monitored via a second filament, and disconnection can therefore also be performed in the event of breakage of the second filament.

  • Patent number: 6319046
Abstract: An electrical connection unit including a housing with at least one terminal for receiving either an insulated lead or a stripped lead and at least one metal part having a cutting element and a spring element. The cutting element and the spring element are located along a longitudinal extension of the lead thereby minimizing the height of the electrical connection unit such that it may be used in confined spaces. In accordance with one embodiment, the cutting element and the spring element coincide in space such that they are substantially coplanar to further reduce the size of the electrical connection unit. In accordance with one embodiment of the present invention, the metal part serves a dual function as a cutting element and also as a spring element and has an essentially box-shaped configuration. The housing may also include catch projections and/or attachment cross pieces to retain the metal part in the housing. Furthermore, a mountable thrustor and /or latchable cover may also be provided.

  • Patent number: 5880937
Abstract: A circuit arrangement (4) for the operation of electrical lamps, with a printed circuit board (5), on which electrical components (14) and conductor strips (7; 19; 20) are arranged, whereby potential changes that are rapid over time occur on printed circuit board (5), has an equipotential surface (6) for reducing the radio interference caused by these potential changes. For this purpose, equipotential surface (6) with resting potential relative to the rapid potential changes is connected onto printed circuit board (5). In particular, the equipotential surface is produced by a copper layer (6) on the upper side of printed circuit board (5). The advantage is a simple-to-produce arrangement that can be automated for reducing radio interference.

  • Patent number: 5757136
Abstract: To provide for reliable interconnection of a cover (4) with the body (1) of socket and socket housing for an electric lamp which, also, is formed with a receptacle or socket to receive the base of the lamp, preferably a compact fluorescent lamp, a rotary interengaging screw-type connection is provided between the cover and the body. To prevent inadvertent removal, an interengaging snap connection (6, 8) is formed on the cover (4) and on the body, respectively. The snap connection (6, 8) engages upon assembly of the cover (4) with the body (1). To remove the cover (4), a tool such as a screwdriver is engaged through a small slit (16) in the body, to deflect a resilient flap formed by the cover element. A positioning rib (14) is provided within the body to secure the resilient flap in deflected position, even after removal of the tool, to permit easy disassembly of the cover (4) from the body (1) without requiring continued deflection pressure on the resilient flap.

  • Patent number: 5320548
Abstract: To permit use of a compact fluorescent lamp having a base with projecting rminal pins (9) in an ordinary standard Edison lightbulb socket, an adapter has a lightbulb thread (2) and the housing body includes a reception well (5) to receive a locating plate or plug (6) from the lamp. To relieve stresses and strains on reception terminals (11) which are electrically connected to a printed circuit board (3) within the adapter body, the reception terminals, and preferably the connecting lugs thereof, are formed with openings which are engaged by matching projections formed on the housing body, and preferably by projections extending from the wall defining the well (5) which receives the locating plate or lug (6) of the lamp. This avoids bending, and hence damage to the printed circuit board upon insertion of the lamp pins (9) in the spring contact portions (11a) of the reception terminals since assembly stresses are accepted by the housing body and not by the printed circuit board.
