  • Patent number: 6517819
Abstract: An antiperspirant suspension which is finely divided, which is contained in a non-aqueous phase, and which has improved efficacy for perspiration reduction when used on human skin, includes at least one basic aluminum-zirconium-halogenohydrate complex as active ingredient in which at least 60% of the zirconium content can be directly titrated after dissolving in 0.1 n HCl with EDTA at a pH of 0.8, wherein the active ingredient optionally contains an amino acid. A process for the synthesis of the antiperspirant suspension includes mixing an aluminum salt which is effective as an antiperspirant with a zirconium salt which is effective as an antiperspirant, optionally in the presence of an amino acid, in a non-aqueous oil phase in the absence of water to provide a mixture; and grinding the mixture.

  • Patent number: 6428778
Abstract: A process for synthesis of finely divided antiperspirant suspensions includes providing an antiperspirant salt consisting essentially of an Al salt which is effective as an antiperspirant and which is described by an empirical formula as follows: Al(OH)(3−b)XbzH2O where b=0.4 to 3, z<4, and X=halogen; mixing the Al salt into a non-aqueous oil phase to provide a mixture; and subsequently grinding the mixture with a suitable milling device at a temperature below 80° C. to provide a suspension having a preselected fineness. • Patent number: 5212708
Abstract: In an axial flow gas laser, in particular a high-power CO.sub.2 laser with DC excitation, at least one discharge tube (1) of dielectric material, in particular quartz glass, is provided. First and second connection bodies (E1, E2) are sealingly connected to the discharge tube (1) or to connection necks branching off from it, in each case in the vicinity of an electrical and laser gas connection point, forming a connection chamber (K1, K2), and are connected to laser gas inlet lines (4) or outlet lines (9). The first connection body (E1) is connected to the anode potential and the second connection body (E2) to the cathode potential of a direct voltage source. The first and second connection bodies (E1, E2) are disposed with tubular axial spacing from one another, so that the discharge tube (1), with its gas chamber, forms a discharge path between the anode and cathode potentials.

  • Patent number: 5200971
Abstract: In order to improve a high-frequency excited gas laser with longitudinal flow, comprising a discharge channel having laser gas flowing therethrough in a direction of flow and high-frequency electrodes arranged on both sides of the discharge channel for generating a high-frequency discharge transversely to the direction of flow, such that a high output can be achieved with this laser in a manner which is, constructionally, as simple as possible and that its design is, at the same time, as compact as possible, it is suggested that the discharge channel comprise a plurality of channel elements, the channel axes of which are aligned parallel to one another in the direction of flow, that the channel elements be arranged beside or next to one another in a direction of installation transverse to the direction of flow and that the channel elements have a cross section having a greater extension in a first cross direction at right angles to the direction of flow than in a second cross direction extending at right angl

  • Patent number: 5169967
Abstract: A novel aluminum magnesium hydroxy fatty acid compound is disclosed having a general formula, Al.sub.x Mg.sub.y (OH).sub.3x+2y-z R.sub.z.nH.sub.2 O, wherein R is at least one aliphatic monocarboxylic acid group having the formula RCOO.sup.- and comprising from 12 to 22 carbon atoms, and wherein x=2, 2.ltoreq.y.ltoreq.10, z=2, and n is an integer greater than zero. The compound is prepared by a process including placing water and a salt which is one of an alkali metal salt or an ammonium salt of at least one aliphatic monocarboxylic acid having from 12 to 22 carbon atoms in a reactor fitted with heating and stirring means. The salt is dissolved by intensive stirring and by heating to a temperature ranging from 20.degree. to 90.degree. C. to provide a salt solution. The pH of the salt solution in the reactor is maintained at a pH of at least 8 to provide an alkaline solution.

  • Patent number: 4046855
Abstract: A method is provided for removing harmful organic compounds from the aluminate liquor obtained in the production of alumina according to the Bayer process. A magnesium obtained is added to the aluminate liquor to form a hydroxide mixture containing magnesium hydroxide and aluminum hydroxide which precipitates from the aluminate liquor. The precipitated mixture is maintained in the aluminate liquor, while being stirred, until at least a part of the organic compounds have been eliminated from the aluminate liquor. The hydroxide mixture containing the organic compounds then is separated from the aluminate liquor.
