  • Patent number: 11954845
Abstract: To improve measurement or assessment of fatigue damage to parts, a computer-implemented method for measuring striation properties of fatigue striations on a sample surface of a part is disclosed. A sample surface is imaged using a scanning electron microscope to obtain a sample image potentially containing the fatigue striations. A sample image patch potentially containing fatigue striations is selected from the sample image. After normalizing the sample image patch and enhancing line-like regular structures contained in the sample image patch, the normalized image patch is autocorrelated, Radon transformed and spectrally analyzed. The resulting power spectrum of the transformed image patch contains information about striation properties of the fatigue striations contained in the sample image, if any fatigue striations are present. Furthermore, a system for performing the method is disclosed.

  • Patent number: 9569668
Abstract: A method and a device for runway localization on the basis of a feature analysis of at least one image of the runway surroundings taken by a landing aircraft is characterized in that, in order to determine the central axis of the runway, feature matching between image features of the image and mirrored image features of the image is carried out, wherein features of the one runway side are made to be congruent with features of the other runway side.

  • Patent number: 9361543
Abstract: An automatic learning method for the automatic learning of the forms of appearance of objects in images in the form of object features from training images for using the learned object features in an image processing system comprises determining a feature contribution by a training image to object features by weighted summation of training image features by means of linear filter operations, applied to the feature image, by using a weight image obtained at least from an annotation image and a classification image. This allows faster learning processes and also the learning of a greater variance of forms of appearance of objects and backgrounds, which increases the robustness of the system in its application to untrained images.

  • Patent number: 8928802
Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus and a method for producing dynamic range increase (DRI) or a high dynamic range (HDR) pictures, in which differently exposed individual images are combined by image processing to form an HDR or DRI picture. In order to also allow moving objects to be recorded more easily, and to overcome the restrictions relating to lack of mobility of a recording device, the exposure can be carried out by laser radiation containing wavelengths at different intensities.

  • Patent number: 8670635
Abstract: A system and method processes intensity images having a ring structure to measure position, shape deviation and/or radius of the ring structure, and to evaluate interferograms and/or localize objects. The system and method can define N sectors of the intensity image respectively having sector tips lying at a common sector origin within the ring structure, with N being a natural number where N>1, detect a distance of an intensity extreme from the respective sector tip of each sector of at least one group of the sectors to obtain a distance vector that includes the distances from all the sectors from at least the group of the sectors, perform a Fourier transformation of the distance vector, and determine a center, a radius and/or a deviation of the ring structure from a circular shape,-by using the first Fourier vector obtained by the Fourier transformation.

  • Patent number: 8442271
Abstract: A laser detection method and apparatus for detection of laser beams can each perform operations for producing an interference image from detected light radiation, recording the interference image, and processing the recorded interference image in order to detect laser radiation. In order to allow more robust and faster laser detection, the apparatus and method can detect a spatially defined point distribution from the interference image, and transform the point distribution such that a grid interval remains between a point grid in the point distribution, and a fixed position, which is independent of a position in the original image, is associated with the point grid. The apparatus and method can further detect a grid interval in the point grid that was transformed, and detect the position of the point grid from the point distribution by filtering with the assistance of the grid interval.
