  • Patent number: 6129442
Abstract: A lighting device for passenger conveyors, such as escalators and travelators, is provided particularly in the region of the handrail and/or skirting of the passenger conveyor, and includes at least one light-guide oriented in the conveying direction of the passenger conveyor, substantially continuously, having lateral light emission and which in the region of at least one of its ends can receive the bundled light beam of a light source. The light-source runs along the length of the conveyor and its end faces a projector whereby light generated by an electric lamp of the projector is passed through a light concentrator to bundle the light into a concentrated beam. The bundled light beam is projected onto the end of the light-guide thereby lighting one of the handrail and the step track, respectively, along the transport direction of the passenger conveyor.

  • Patent number: 5810148
Abstract: A tread element for escalators and travelators includes a treadplate for receiving persons to be transported. The treadplate includes at least one outer portion having a plurality of recesses. A plurality of individual moldings are disposed juxtaposed to one another in the at least one outer portion. Each molding includes a plurality of stud-shaped lugs on a side of the molding facing the treadplate and passing through a corresponding one of the recesses in the at least one outer portion of the treadplate for centering the molding relative to the treadplate. Each of the plurality of moldings has edge portions. The edge portions of moldings adjoining each other include projections that at least partially overlap one another. The lugs each have a free end surface including a receiving opening for receiving a screw.

  • Patent number: 5443145
Abstract: A safety device is disposed at a run-in region of a circulating handrail of a moving passage into a stationary wall. The safety device is made of a cover plate; an elastically deformable handrail run-in part configured as a bellows and connected to the cover plate; a rod-shaped element having a first end and a second end and being seated in a rear region of the handrail run-in part; an angled component having a first leg connected to a rear side of the handrail run-in part and a second leg adapted to receive the first end of the rod-shaped element; and a limit switch for stopping a movement of the moving passage upon being activated. The limit switch is disposed such that the rod-shaped element is effective for transmitting a deformation of the handrail run-in part onto the limit switch for activating the limit switch.
